Alright, so you wanna know about that there Yamaha YZF600R, the 2001 model, huh? Well, let me tell ya, it’s a motorcycle, that’s what it is. A real zoom-zoom machine, if you catch my drift.

Now, this ain’t no tractor, mind you. This thing’s got a powerful engine, a real screamer. They say it’s a 599cc four-stroke, four-cylinder thingamajig, liquid-cooled and all that fancy stuff. What’s that mean? It means it goes fast, real fast. They say it’s got like, 100 horses, whatever that means. Sounds like a lot of horses to me, probably more than old man Johnson’s farm has!
- Engine: It’s a 599cc four-cylinder liquid-cooled job, they say it’s got 100 horsepower.
- Transmission: Got six gears, you gotta shift ‘em yourself.
- Top Speed: Goes like stink, they say 153 miles per hour! Don’t know what I’d do going that fast, probably spill my groceries everywhere.
And this ain’t one of them automatic things. You gotta shift them gears yourself, six of ‘em. It’s what they call a “manual transmission.” Keeps you busy, that’s for sure. And how fast does it go? Well, hold onto your hat, they say it can hit 153 miles per hour! Lord have mercy, that’s faster than a runaway chicken! Not that I’d ever go that fast, mind you. Speed limit’s 55 around here, and that’s plenty fast enough for me.
Now, some folks, they like to compare this YZF600R to other bikes. Like that there R6, they talk about. But let me tell you, this YZF600R, it’s different. It’s comfier, they say. Better on gas too, probably wouldn’t guzzle it down like my old pickup truck. And it ain’t as pricey as that R6, save you a few pennies, you know?
The frame on this 2001 YZF600R, it’s made of steel. That’s strong stuff, like them old bridges they used to build. Not like that aluminum stuff they use on them fancy bikes. And the motor, it’s different too, not the same as that R6 at all. This here YZF600R, it’s what they call “carbureted,” means it uses a carburetor to mix the gas and air. Not like them newfangled fuel injection thingies.
Some folks, they call it a “sport cruiser.” I guess that means it’s sporty but also comfy enough to ride around on. You could ride it to work, or just cruise around town, show it off to your neighbors. Just don’t go too fast, now. And you gotta keep it in good shape, this ain’t something you just leave out in the rain.

They tell me these YZF600Rs, especially the older ones, you gotta be careful when you buy ‘em used. You want one that ain’t been beat up, you know? Low miles is good, or one that’s been owned by a careful fella. Someone who ain’t gonna hot-rod it all over town and wreck it.
Now, I heard some folks can’t decide between this Yamaha and that there Honda CBR600F4i. Both good bikes, I reckon. But the Honda, that’s fuel injected, they say. The Yamaha, like I said, it’s got that carburetor. Which one’s better? Well, that’s like asking if you like apples or oranges, depends on what you like, I guess.
Yamaha, they made a big splash with this YZF series, I heard tell. Folks liked ‘em, still do. They were different, those cat-eyed headlights, they looked real mean, real fast. And this 2001 model, it’s a good one, they say. A good solid bike. Not too fancy, not too complicated, just a good honest machine.
So, if you’re looking for a motorcycle that’s fast, fun, and won’t break the bank, this 2001 Yamaha YZF600R might just be the ticket. Just remember, be careful out there, and always wear your helmet. And don’t go showin’ off and breaking your neck. You gotta be respectful of the machine and the road. That’s what I always say. It’s common sense, really.
And if you can, go to the Yamaha website, or somewhere official like that, and get the real lowdown. Don’t listen to just any old fool like me. But between you and me, this here 2001 Yamaha YZF600R seems like a pretty good motorcycle. A real nice piece of machinery, if you ask me.
