Yahara Golf Madison: A Complete Review of the East and West Courses

So, today I’m gonna talk about my trip to Yahara Hills Golf Course. It’s right over in Madison, you know, biggest one around here. I think they said it opened back in like, ’67 or something.

Getting Started

First thing I did was head over to their website to get the lowdown. Saw they have two 18-hole courses, pretty sweet! I called them up to book a tee time, and the folks there were super helpful. They got me all set up for a morning round on the East course.

Heading Out

Woke up early, grabbed my clubs, and hit the road. It’s located at 6701 US Highway 12 and 18, easy to find. When I got there, the place was already buzzing. Lots of folks getting ready for their games. I checked in at the clubhouse, which, by the way, they said was built in 1967, too. It has this classic vibe, you know?

Hitting the Course

I started on the first tee, and man, the course is in great shape. They’ve got these wide fairways and some tricky greens. I heard they’re renovating some parts, but you wouldn’t even know it. Everything was green and well-maintained. I played through the first nine, took a little break at the turn, and then tackled the back nine. I even managed to snag a birdie on the 15th hole! Super proud of that one.

Wrapping Up

After I finished, I swung by the clubhouse again to grab a bite. Chatted with some other golfers, and we all agreed it was a great day out. They’ve hosted some big tournaments here, and I can totally see why. The course is challenging but fair, and it’s a good fit for all kinds of players.

Other Stuff I Noticed

  • Dress Code: Make sure you wear proper golf clothes. I saw a guy get turned away for wearing jeans.
  • Renovations: They’re working on some parts of the course, supposed to be done by 2026. It didn’t affect my game at all, though.
  • History: Apparently, the city sold some of the land to the county back in 2023. Doesn’t change anything for us golfers, though.

All in all, it was a solid day at Yahara Hills. If you’re in Madison and looking for a good round of golf, definitely check it out. Just make sure you book a tee time in advance, especially on weekends!
