That Hiroko, she’s somethin’ else, ain’t she? I seen her on the WWE, flippin’ around, all that. She’s from Japan, you know. Born in 1974, they say. That’s a long time ago! She goes by Hiroko Suzuki now, used to be Mizuno.

WWE Hiroko, That Japanese Lady
She ain’t just a pretty face, though. That Hiroko, she’s a politician, too. Can you believe that? From wrasslin’ to politics, only in WWE. She worked for the WWE, on that SmackDown thing. My grandson, he watches it all the time. He’s always yelling at the TV, jumpin’ around. Says he wants to be a WWE superstar.
They call her a “valet” in the WWE. Don’t know what that means, exactly. Sounds fancy. Maybe she parks cars or somethin’? She even wrassled a little, too. Imagine that! And she helped put on them wrasslin’ shows. A promoter, they call it. Busy lady, that Hiroko.
Gettin’ into WWE
My grandson, bless his heart, he thinks he can just walk into the WWE. I tell him, “Boy, it ain’t that easy!” They got rules, you know. Gotta be over 18, for one. And you gotta be tough. Like them football players. They like them athletic types in the WWE.
- Gotta be 18 years or older
- Need to be tough, like you played sports or somethin’
- They watch you, see if you’re any good
They got this place, the WWE Performance Center. Sounds like school, but for wrasslin’. They train you there, teach you all the moves. If you’re good enough, maybe, just maybe, you get to be on TV. It’s a long shot, though. Lots of folks want to be in the WWE.
Back in ’89, the big boss of WWE, Vince McMahon, he said wrasslin’ ain’t a real sport. It’s all for show. Well, I coulda told you that! But it’s good show, ain’t it? All them muscles and costumes.

WWE got this Hall of Fame thing, too. For all the big shots who used to wrassle. Like a museum, but for wrasslers. All them old-timers, they get put in there. It’s a big honor, I reckon.
WWE Ain’t Easy
My grandson, he’s got big dreams. He wants to be like them WWE superstars. He sees their fancy cars, their big houses. He thinks it’s easy money. I tell him, “Boy, you gotta work for it!” It ain’t all fun and games. They get hurt, you know. Broken bones, the whole nine yards.
- Those WWE superstars work real hard, even if it’s fake
- They get banged up and bruised, it ain’t easy on the body
- You gotta be tough to make it in that world
This McMahon fella, he bought the WWE from his daddy, back in ’82. Made it into a big deal. Now it’s worth a whole lot of money. Billions, they say! Imagine that. From a little wrasslin’ show to a billion-dollar business. Only in America!
They look for certain people to be in the WWE. Gotta have the look, the muscles, all that. They got scouts, like in baseball. They watch people, see if they’re good enough. They even go to other countries, lookin’ for wrasslers. It’s a worldwide thing now, the WWE.
If you get picked, they send you a letter. Gotta go try out. Like an audition, but for wrasslin’. They see if you got what it takes. It ain’t easy, though. Lots of folks try, but not many make it.

This WWE thing, it’s a big deal now. Lots of money in it. But it’s hard work, too. My grandson, he’s learnin’ that. He’s still young, though. He’s got time. Maybe he’ll make it, maybe he won’t. But he’s gotta try, right? That’s what I tell him. “You gotta try, boy. You never know what might happen.” Just like that Hiroko. She tried, and look at her now. WWE and politics. Who would have thought? She’s somethin’, ain’t she?
