Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this Daytona 500 thing. Folks been askin’ if it’s canceled or what. I heard tell there’s been a whole lotta rain down there in Daytona Beach, Florida. Rain, rain, go away, come again another day, that’s what I say! But seems like the rain ain’t listenin’.
Now, this Daytona 500, it’s a big deal, I reckon. Folks call it NASCAR’s biggest race. They got these fancy cars, and they go whippin’ around that track, real fast-like. Two hundred laps, they say. Must be dizzyin’! Heard they was gonna race on Sunday, but then the rain came and messed it all up. So, they said, “Hold your horses, we gonna race on Monday instead.” Yeah, they pushed it to Monday at 4 p.m. Hope the rain stays away this time, or them fellas ain’t gonna be racin’ nowhere.
I tell ya, spendin’ all that money on tickets, and then it rains. That ain’t right. But they say, if the race gets postponed again, or somethin’, you can trade your tickets for another race later on. Places like Darlington, they say. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but it sounds like they tryin’ to make it right, I guess.

And they put his car on display, all shiny and new, for a whole year. At the Daytona 500 Experience, they say. Sounds like a museum to me.
Now, some folks might think racin’ is just a summer thing, but these fellas, they race for a long time. Ten months, I heard! Startin’ in February and goin’ all the way to November. That’s longer than them baseball fellas, that’s for sure. Thirty-eight races! My goodness, that’s a lot of racin’.
They fixed up the track too, I heard. Used to be some bad seats, where you couldn’t see nothin’. So, they tore ’em down and made the other seats better. Wider, they say. Well, that’s good, I reckon. If you gonna sit there all day watchin’ cars go in circles, you at least wanna be comfortable.
So, is the Daytona 500 canceled? Well, not exactly. It’s just delayed, like I said, ’cause of that darn rain. They gonna try again on Monday. And if you wanna watch it on TV, they say it’ll be on Fox. Or you can watch it on that internet thingy, FoxSports website, whatever that is. Me? I’ll just wait and see if it stops rainin’. Then maybe I’ll turn on the TV and see what all the fuss is about. Daytona 500, huh? Sounds like a whole lotta noise and speed. Hope them fellas stay safe, that’s all I gotta say.

Just hope the rain holds off and they can finally have their race. It’s a big deal for them fellas, and for all the folks who like to watch ’em go fast.
