So yesterday I finally caved and bought that new Stealth 2 wood everyone’s buzzing about. Figured, what the heck, my old driver’s seen better days anyway. Got it home, unwrapped it – gotta say, that shiny red face does look kinda mean leaning against my bag.

The First Swing Disaster
Hit the range after work, super pumped. Slapped it down on the mat, took a good whack. Felt… different. Like, way lighter than my old brick. First shot? Shanked it sideways hard enough to almost hit the guy three bays over. That ended quick.
Took a breath, remembered the sales dude blabbing about needing different swing speed. Tried again, smoother this time. Holy smokes. Ball flew like a rocket. Like, landed way past my usual spots. Started feeling pretty damn good.
What Actually Stuck Out Later
Here’s the messy bits I noticed playing 18 holes today:
- Good Misses: Topped one early morning, felt awful. But damn thing still got airborne and actually rolled pretty okay. Didn’t vanish into the woods like my old wood would’ve. Doesn’t punish me for stupid swings as much.
- Easy to Point: That big head? Honestly makes it feel like cheating aiming down the fairway. Just sets up square real easy.
- Smack Factor: Pure ones go far. Like, legit “did I just do that?” far. Felt effortless getting that extra distance out of it.
- Loud & Proud: Sounds weird. Not a crack, more like a sharp thwack. Annoyed Steve, made me laugh. Point for me.
The Unexpected Downside
Okay, biggest “whoops” moment. Hole 12, water tight left, trees right. Pulled it left. Hard. Like, “clear the water hazard and smash into the clubhouse window” left. Heard glass tinkle. Thought I was hitting rocks!
Turns out this bad boy launches balls insanely high and fast. If you hook it? It goes. Straight into my repair bill.

So, Would I Buy It Again?
Even with needing a new car window? Probably yeah.
Is it magic? Nope. Still shank shots like a champ sometimes. But those good hits? They’re happening way more often and going way further. Feels easier to just step up and rip it without overthinking. Less scary than using driver off the deck too.
Bottom line: If your current wood feels like swinging a rusty shovel, this thing’s a damn upgrade. Just… maybe aim away from parking lots.
