Okay, so I got curious the other day about something pretty morbid, I admit. I wanted to know who the last driver was that died at the Indy 500. It’s not something I normally think about, but it just popped into my head.

So, I fired up my computer and opened my browser. My first move, as always, was to hit up Google. I typed in something simple like “last driver death indy 500”. You know, keep it basic.
The search results popped up pretty quick. I scrolled through a few of the top ones, mostly news articles and stuff. It was a little tricky because some results talked about deaths during practice or qualifying, and I really wanted to know about the actual race.
- I started clicking around, and reading through some articles.
- It was a bit confusing, to find a clear answer about the race accident.
Digging Deeper
After more refined searching and reading, I found a clear answer, Scott Brayton died in a practice session after qualifying, and Swede Savage died in the race.
So, yeah, that’s how I figured it out. It wasn’t super complicated, but it did take a little bit of digging to make sure I was getting the right info. Morbid curiosity satisfied, I guess.
