Okay, so today I decided to mess around with this “tabilo tennis player” thing. It sounded kinda cool, and I figured, why not give it a shot?

Getting Started
First, I needed to, you know, actually figure out what I was doing. I pulled up a few images online and tried to find something like a reference. I have some cardboard boxes from a recent delivery.
The Messy Middle
I grabbed a pair of scissors and just started hacking away. I knew I wanted something that at the basic shape, so I sketched out some super rough shapes with a pen.
- Cutting: The cardboard was tougher than I expected. My scissors were not the best, and I quickly wished to have use a big cutter.
- Shaping: This was the tricky part. Round things are hard to cut out of cardboard! I ended up with some seriously wonky circles.
- Assembling: Tape was my best friend here. I used a whole bunch of packing tapes to stick the pieces together. It was… messy.
The Final Result (Sort Of)
So, after a good hour of wrestling with cardboard and tape, I had something that kinda, sorta, resembled a table tennis player. It was definitely more abstract art than realistic sculpture. It’s pretty lopsided, and one of the arms is definitely longer than the other. But hey, I made it!
Honestly, it was more fun than I expected. Even though the final product is a bit of a disaster, I enjoyed the process of just making something with my hands. Maybe I’ll try to improve it later, I don’t know. Would I recommend this as a serious project? Probably not. But as a way to kill an afternoon and have a good laugh? Definitely.
