The Frustrating Start
Woke up Tuesday hype for new patch. Saw Sky Piercer banner drop – big shiny gun animations, cool character. Didn’t check details. Just went “Ooh pretty! MUST PULL!” Blew all my free gems doing 70 pulls straight no breaks. Got trash 3-stars mostly. Crying hard.
Then squadmate in guild chat flexes Blood Pact unit tearing through Chapter 10. Immediately jealous. Thought “THIS is meta! Gotta catch up!” Even bought monthly pack for extra pulls. After 50 more draws? Just a rainbow handgun. Not even Blood Pact featured gear. Absolute saltmine moment sitting there staring at loading screen thinking why I costed $30 for pixels.
Research Phase (Too Late)
Finally swallowed pride and hit Discord + Reddit hardcore. Asked vets: “Which banner NOT waste money?” Key things I learned checking combat logs:
- Sky Piercer is trap for newbies. Flashy but niche. Single-target DPS gets bullied late-game swarm modes. My “ooh shiny” costed me big.
- Blood Pact actually strong BUT needs high-tier support dolls unlocked later. Pulling her early = fancy paperweight.
- Lowkey Night Ops unit? Broken debuffs. Vets stacking her with free welfare units clearing hardest raids easy. No one talks bout her in promo vids.
My Dumb Pulling Strategy Now
Made checklist to stop impulse pulls:
- First: Simulate battle with trial unit. If dies in 5 seconds? Skip banner immediately.
- Second: Check inventory. If I ain’t got required support gear? Not pulling even if SSS+ tier.
- Third: Wait 48hrs AFTER banner drop. Watch whale test videos showing REAL performance not hype trailer.
Tried this on latest Night Ops banner. Simulated her – wrecked debuff timings on boss. Checked my gear box – had 4 shotgun that synergizes perfect. Finally pulled after 3 days. Got her in 40 draws. Feels better than throwing gems at first banner blinking.
TLDR – Sky Piercer trap, Blood Pact needs baby-sitting, Night Ops sleeper OP. Stop being like me. Check synergy, test unit, WAIT before pulling. Saved 8K gems this month learning.
