Whats the best way for Destiny 2 Dragons Breath catalyst kills? Check these super effective methods now!

Alright, so let’s talk about getting those Dragon’s Breath catalyst kills. You know how it is, new shiny exotic, then comes the catalyst, and then comes the grind. It’s the Destiny way, I suppose.

When I first got the catalyst, I figured, “Hey, I’ll just use Dragon’s Breath while I’m doing my usual stuff – strikes, maybe some seasonal activities.” Seemed logical, right? Well, let me tell you, that was a slow burn, and not in the good, fiery Dragon’s Breath way. You fire one rocket, then you’re waiting around, and you’re not always getting the best bang for your buck in terms of sheer enemy numbers for a catalyst like this.

My Go-To Strategy Unfolds

So, after a bit of that, I was like, “Okay, this isn’t cutting it.” I needed a place with a ton of ads, packed tight. My mind immediately went to the usual suspects. You know the spots.

I decided to load into the Last Wish raid, specifically the Shuro Chi checkpoint. Classic, I know. But hey, it’s classic for a reason. Here’s what I did:

  • Flew in, planted a rally banner. Gotta have that heavy ammo, right? No point in doing this if you’re scrounging for purple bricks every two minutes.
  • As soon as the encounter started, all those Taken Thrall come rushing out. Perfect.
  • I’d aim my Dragon’s Breath right into the thickest part of the group. The beauty of this rocket is that initial explosion and then the whole area just catches fire. It roasts a whole bunch of ’em without me having to do much else.
  • Once that wave was mostly cooked, and the rocket’s effect was doing its thing, I’d just let the enemies finish me off, or jump off the edge, to reset quickly.
  • Wipe, repeat. Over and over.

Honestly, it’s not the most exciting gameplay loop. I usually put on a podcast or some music in the background. It becomes almost meditative after a while. You just get into a rhythm: banner, shoot, watch ’em burn, wipe, repeat. You see that kill count for the catalyst slowly ticking up, and that’s the real reward at this stage.

A Few Things I Noticed

One thing about Dragon’s Breath is that it’s pretty good at this ad-clear job even without the catalyst fully unlocked, especially for these farm spots. The lingering solar flare it creates is what you’re really leveraging here. You want to make sure you’re hitting groups, not just single tough targets, to maximize those catalyst kills.

I also briefly considered the opening of Grasp of Avarice. You know, where all those Dregs and Vandals keep pouring out of the cave? That’s another solid option if you prefer it, or if you don’t have the Shuro Chi checkpoint handy. The enemy density is great there too. Altars of Sorrow on the Moon can also work, but it’s a bit more chaotic with other players around, and you might be competing for kills, which isn’t ideal for a specific weapon catalyst grind.

But for me, Shuro Chi was the most efficient. Controlled environment, easy to reset, plenty of weak enemies grouped up. Took a bit of time, sure, but it got the job done. And once that catalyst was complete, Dragon’s Breath felt even better to use, especially with how it reloads itself. So yeah, that was my journey with it. A bit tedious, but worth it in the end if you like the weapon.
