My Look at the Rocket League Item Shop Lately
So, I hopped into Rocket League the other night, just planning to get a few casual games in, maybe rank up a bit if I felt like it. Booted up the game, got to the main menu, and bam, that little notification pops up, you know, the one telling you there’s new stuff in the Item Shop. Usually, I try to ignore it, gotta save those credits, right?
But this time, I dunno, curiosity got the better of me. I figured, okay, let’s just take a quick peek. Clicked over to the shop section. It loaded up, showing the daily featured items and the regular rotation stuff. They had this really bright, flashy decal for the Octane. Looked kinda cool, not gonna lie. Very eye-catching.
Then there was a set of wheels. They were animated, swirling colors. Pretty neat. I hovered over them for a bit, checking the preview. My mind started doing that thing, you know? “Okay, how many credits is that? Do I have enough? Would I actually use these wheels, or would they just sit in my inventory?”
Checked my credit balance. Yeah, I had enough, had been saving up for a while, mostly from the Rocket Pass and a few trades ages ago. But then I thought, man, is this specific item worth spending on? It’s tempting, ’cause it’s only there for a day or two, right? That’s how they get ya, the fear of missing out.
I spent a good few minutes just clicking around. Looked at the goal explosion they had too. It was okay, but nothing spectacular compared to what I already use. I compared the items mentally to stuff I already owned or stuff I’d seen other players using.
In the end, I just backed out of the shop. Didn’t buy anything. The decal was cool, the wheels were flashy, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger. Felt like I’d rather keep the credits for something I really want down the line, maybe in the next Rocket Pass or if something truly amazing pops up in that shop.

It’s always a bit of a mini-battle, that item shop. Easy to get sucked in, easy to spend those credits. Sometimes browsing is fun, but most times, I just end up closing it and hitting that ‘Play’ button instead. The game itself is the main thing, after all.
