Well, you wanna know about the Kentucky Derby, huh? That big horse race. And you wanna know which one of them jockey fellas won it the most times? Lemme tell you, it ain’t easy keepin’ track of all them horses and riders, they all look the same to me runnin’ around that track. But I hear things, you know? People talk.
So, this Kentucky Derby, it’s a big deal. Lots of folks watchin’, lots of money bettin’. And these jockeys, they’re the little guys ridin’ the horses. They gotta be tough, I reckon. Holdin’ on tight, goin’ real fast. My old bones couldn’t do it, that’s for sure. I remember one time, our old mule, Bessie, she took off runnin’ when a snake got near her. Nearly threw me right off! These jockeys, they do that kinda thing all the time, but with those fancy racehorses.
Now, you asked who won the most. Seems there’s two fellas tied for that. One’s name is Eddie, Eddie Arcaro. The other one, Bill, Bill Hartack. Both of ’em won that big race five times. Five times! That’s a lot of winnin’. They must be good, I reckon, to win that many. Imagine winnin’ somethin’ five times. I won the pie contest at the county fair once. That was a good day. But five times? That’s somethin’ else.
And these horses, they run fast. Real fast. Faster than anything I ever seen, ‘cept maybe that time a tornado came through. Tore the roof right off the barn. They say some of them horses can run that race in under two minutes. Two minutes! That’s faster than I can walk to the outhouse and back!

This Eddie Arcaro, he won a whole bunch of other races, too. Not just the Kentucky Derby. They got these other big races, like the, uh… Preakness? And the Belmont? Somethin’ like that. He won them a bunch of times, too. Musta been a real good rider. Makes you wonder what kinda food they feed them jockeys to make ’em so good. Probably somethin’ special.
And that Bill Hartack, he won a bunch of times too, all of those Kentucky Derby Wins. That’s a lot of Horse Racing.

I reckon you gotta have a special somethin’ to be a jockey. Gotta be brave, and strong, and know how to handle them big animals. It ain’t like milkin’ a cow, that’s for sure.
I don’t know who’s gonna win this year. There’s always new ones comin’ up, tryin’ to make a name for themselves. But it’ll take a lot to beat them two, Eddie and Bill. Five wins each! That’s gonna be a hard record to beat. Maybe impossible.
Well, that’s all I know about them jockeys and that Kentucky Derby. It’s a big to-do, that’s for sure. Lots of excitement, lots of money. Maybe one day I’ll go see it for myself. But for now, I’m happy just hearin’ about it. Keeps an old lady like me entertained, you know? And who knows, maybe one day one of them young jockeys will come along and win it six times. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
