Okay, so I started digging into this Connor Zilisch kid in the NASCAR scene recently. Been hearing the name buzz around a bit, you know? Felt like I needed to get up to speed myself.
My Process: Getting Started
First thing, I just punched his name into the search bar. See what pops up. Lots of stuff, right away. You see he’s young, like, really young to be making these kinds of waves. That always catches my eye. Seeing new talent break through is pretty interesting.
Then I started looking at where he’s actually been racing. It wasn’t just one thing, which surprised me a little. Saw results from:
- Trans Am Series: Seemed like he was doing really well there, especially road courses. Lots of wins mentioned.
- ARCA Menards Series: Popped up in some races there too, getting experience on ovals and bigger tracks.
- CARS Tour: Late model stuff, which is often a good proving ground.
- NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series: Saw he made some starts there too. That’s jumping into the big leagues, even if it’s trucks.
Digging Deeper
So, seeing him jump between different types of cars got me curious. Is he a road course specialist trying to learn ovals? Or just a super versatile driver? I watched some race highlights I could find. Videos tell you more sometimes than just stats. He looks aggressive, definitely not afraid to push the car. Seems to have good racecraft for his age.
Then I found out about the connection with Trackhouse Racing. They signed him to a development deal. That felt like a big piece of the puzzle. Trackhouse has been pretty sharp about picking up talent, so that says something. They must see some serious potential there. It makes sense, they want to build for the future.
It kind of reminds me of back when other young guns were coming up. You hear the hype, you see a flash of brilliance, and you just watch to see if they can handle the pressure and the grind week after week. It’s a tough business.
Where I’m At Now
So yeah, my “practice” here has basically been playing catch-up. Reading articles, checking results, watching what footage I can find. Trying to piece together the story of this driver. He’s definitely got skill, winning in different cars shows that.
Now, I’m just keeping an eye on where he shows up next. What races is he scheduled for? How does he perform in those bigger NASCAR series races when he gets the chance? It’s one thing to dominate in some series, another to consistently run well against Cup regulars or experienced Xfinity/Truck drivers. That’s the next step I’m watching for. Definitely an interesting one to follow right now.
