So, I’ve been messing around with DraftKings lately, mostly because a buddy of mine wouldn’t shut up about it. I finally caved and decided to check out what all the fuss was about. One thing that kept popping up was this “bonus bet” thing, and honestly, I had no clue what it meant.

First, I signed up for a new account on DraftKings Sportsbook. I mean, that seemed like the obvious first step, right? During the signup, they kept mentioning something about a promo code, but I just used a link that got me a bonus offer. I’m not too proud to take free money, you know?
Turns out, to actually get this bonus, I had to put down at least five bucks. I’m not a big spender, but five dollars seemed reasonable enough. I deposited a little more than that, just to be safe. No special code was needed, it was all pretty straightforward.
Next up, I had to place a bet. This was the fun part, but also a bit overwhelming. There were so many options, but I just picked something I thought I knew a little about. The offer was something like, “bet and get,” meaning if I bet at least five bucks, they’d give me two hundred in bonus bets. Not a bad deal, I thought.
After placing my bet, I started digging around to learn more about these bonus bets. From what I gathered, they’re basically like store credit. You can use them to make more bets on DraftKings, but only on certain types of bets. You can’t just cash them out, which makes sense, I guess.
Then I stumbled onto this “Free to Play” page on their app. It was kind of hidden, but you can find it at the top of the Sportsbook section. Every day after 7 AM, you can click on something called “Reveal Player” and get a random NFL player for this thing called “Touchdown Draw.” You can collect up to seven players a week. I’m still not entirely sure what it all means, but it seemed like a fun little extra.

Using the bonus bets was pretty simple, too. Once I added a bet to my bet slip, there was a box to tick for “Bonus Bets.” Ticked that, and the bet amount was taken from my bonus balance instead of my actual cash. Pretty slick, I gotta say.
I also read somewhere that for every fifty bucks you play, they give you a dollar in casino credit, up to five hundred dollars. I haven’t tried the casino side of things yet, but it’s good to know.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I did:
- Signed up for a DraftKings Sportsbook account.
- Deposited at least five dollars.
- Placed my first bet of five dollars or more.
- Received bonus bets as a reward.
- Explored the app and found the “Free to Play” section.
- Learned how to use bonus bets by adding a selection to my bet slip and ticking the “Bonus Bets” box.
All in all, it wasn’t as complicated as I thought it would be. Still, it took a bit of trial and error to figure everything out. But hey, who doesn’t like free bets? I’m still learning the ropes, but so far, it’s been a pretty interesting experience.
