Okay, here’s my blog post about messing around with Gold Wing specs.

Alright folks, buckle up, because today I’m gonna spill the beans on my deep dive into Gold Wing specs. You know, the Honda Gold Wing, the land yacht of motorcycles? Yeah, that one.
It all started innocently enough. I was bored. Plain and simple. Scrolling through motorcycle forums, as you do, and someone mentioned the ridiculous amount of tech crammed into the latest Gold Wing. That got my gears turning. I thought, “I wonder what the actual numbers are?”
So, I fired up my trusty laptop and started Googling. My initial goal? Just to find a clean, concise spec sheet. You know, weight, horsepower, torque, that kind of jazz. Seemed easy enough, right? WRONG.
I ended up down a rabbit hole of conflicting information. Official Honda sites, random motorcycle blogs, forum posts from guys who “knew a guy” – it was a mess! Dry weight vs. curb weight, with or without luggage, different model years having wildly different numbers… I was pulling my hair out.
That’s when I decided to get serious. I figured, if I wanted accurate info, I’d have to compile it myself. I started a spreadsheet. Yeah, I know, real exciting stuff. But trust me, it got interesting.

First, I hit up the official Honda Powersports website. I grabbed the specs for the current model year (we’re talking 2024 here). Then, I searched for older models, back as far as I could easily find information. The goal was to track the evolution of the beast.
Next, I ventured into the forums. This is where things got tricky. You gotta sift through the BS. I looked for forum threads where people were discussing specific measurements, or had access to owner’s manuals for older bikes. I tried to cross-reference everything with multiple sources.
Then came the weight discrepancies. This was a major pain. Dry weight is basically useless in the real world. I needed curb weight – the weight of the bike with all fluids and a full tank of gas. But even that varied depending on the model and whether it had things like the Tour package with the top box and side cases.
I spent a solid afternoon trying to nail down the curb weight for different Gold Wing configurations. I ended up creating separate columns in my spreadsheet for different trims and options. It was tedious, but necessary.
The engine specs were a bit easier to nail down. The 1833cc flat-six has been around for a while, but Honda has tweaked it over the years. I tracked horsepower and torque figures for different model years, and noted any changes in engine management or emissions controls.

Finally, after hours of research and data entry, I had a pretty comprehensive spreadsheet of Gold Wing specs, going back several years. It’s not perfect, I’m sure there are still some discrepancies. But it’s a heck of a lot more accurate than just relying on random internet posts.
What Did I Learn?
- The Gold Wing is HEAVY. Like, seriously heavy. Even the base model is pushing 800 pounds.
- Honda has done a good job of incrementally improving the engine over the years. Horsepower and torque are up slightly, and fuel economy has improved.
- The amount of tech crammed into the latest Gold Wings is mind-boggling. Electronically adjustable suspension, Apple CarPlay, integrated navigation… it’s basically a car on two wheels.
So, there you have it. My adventure in Gold Wing specs. Was it worth it? Probably not. But hey, I learned something, and hopefully, you did too. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go for a ride. On something a little lighter.
