Okay, so today I decided to mess around with some NBA data, specifically focusing on Victor Wembanyama’s blocks. I’ve been seeing all these highlights, and I wanted to see the numbers for myself.

First, I started by grabbing the data. You know, it’s always the first step, finding a good, reliable source. Thankfully, there are a few sites out there that track this stuff.
Then, I opened up my trusty spreadsheet program. Yeah, I’m a spreadsheet kind of guy. I like to see the raw numbers, you know?
Next, I dumped all the data into the spreadsheet. It looked like a mess at first, a wall of names and numbers, but that’s okay. Part of the fun is cleaning it up.
I spent some time organizing things. I created columns for dates, opponents, and, of course, blocks. Gotta have a dedicated column for the blocks!
Once everything was organized, I started filtering. I just wanted to see Wembanyama’s stats, so I filtered out all the other players.
Wemby’s Block Party
- I added up all the blocks. It was a pretty big number!
- I also calculated the average blocks per game. Makes it easier to compare across different games.
- I even looked the games where he had the most blocks. Wow.
Honestly, it was pretty cool to see the numbers laid out like that. It confirmed what I was seeing in the highlights – the guy is a blocking machine!
It was a fun little project, and now I have a better understanding of just how impactful Wembanyama is on the defensive end. Maybe next time I’ll look at his rebounds, or maybe even compare him to other great blockers.
