Alright so week eight waiver wire time, let’s get into it. Woke up way too early Tuesday morning, couldn’t sleep right? My brain was already spinning about who might be available after that crazy week of games. Had my coffee brewing strong and fired up my laptop right there at the kitchen table, screen glowing in the dark practically. Clicked open my fantasy apps – ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper, the whole gang – ready to hunt.
First thing I did? Just scrolled, man. Scrolled through all the top performers lists, the trending guys, the injury reports from Sunday and Monday night. My eyes started glazing over after the third cup. Needed to see who actually popped off but wasn’t on most rosters yet. That’s the real gold, right? Free agents you can actually grab without spending big FAAB bucks.
My main targets started jumping out:
- That Cardinals tight end. Holy smokes. Looked at his targets, looked at how thin that WR room is suddenly. Felt like a no-brainer needing a TE or flex. Smashed the claim button.
- Next up, Lions running back. Don’t wanna say names but you know the one. Gibbs is maybe dinged? This guy looked solid last week. Need RB depth desperately in one league so added him everywhere I could.
- Kept seeing this Commanders receiver too. Dotson was fading a bit? This guy was catching everything Howell threw his way. Big, fast… felt like a spark plug hitting waivers.
- Oh! Almost forgot the Patriots running back. Stevenson looked rough, this other dude was running angry. Like, really angry. In the off chance Stevenson misses time? Instant starter. Threw some FAAB at him in deeper leagues.
But here’s the thing, you can’t win ’em all. Tried snagging one of those Browns backup running backs after Ford went down… Felt good about the research, spent medium FAAB… AND GOT OUTBID LIKE CRAZY. Still salty about that one. Everyone else saw the news I guess. Lesson learned? Sometimes the obvious play costs way more than you think. Especially with big injuries.
Now the waiting game starts. Put in claims on all those guys I mentioned across different leagues. Already plotting if I get ’em. Who to drop? Man, that’s always the hardest part! Got one roster where I gotta choose between a handcuff who’s done nothing and a rookie WR I still kinda believe in. Staring at that waiver priority and FAAB budget feels like life or death sometimes.
Listen, waivers make me crazy sometimes. Remember week three? Dropped a dude who literally blew up the next week for like 40 points. Played against him too. Lost by four.
