Okay, folks, I figured I’d share how I ended up doing those interviews with Victor Vaughns, plus all the little behind-the-scenes bits. You know me – I love getting into stuff hands-on and seeing how things unfold. This all started when I was just scrolling through some forums late one night.
Getting the Ball Rolling
First off, I thought Victor Vaughns was kinda interesting, ’cause he’s a musician who doesn’t stick to the rules. So, I hit up Twitter, found his profile, and slid into his DMs. Just said something like, “Hey man, love your tunes, wanna chat for my blog?” Felt super awkward, like throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it sticks. Didn’t hear back for days, so I almost gave up. Then, boom, his manager replied! Said Victor was cool with it, but we had to schedule around his tour dates.
Next up, prepping for the talk. I’m no pro interviewer, so I just grabbed my laptop, opened a doc, and typed out some dumb questions. Things like:
- “What’s the weirdest thing that happened during your last gig?”
- “Do you ever regret quitting your day job?”
- “How do you deal with haters online?”
Kept it real simple, ’cause I hate sounding like a textbook. Also had to test my gear – my cheap mic always crackles, so I plugged it in and yelled “testing 1,2,3” like ten times. Even spilled coffee on my notes. Total mess.
Doing the Actual Thing
Day of the interview came, and let me tell ya, I was nervous as heck. We hopped on Zoom, and Victor Vaughns showed up looking tired but chill. Right off the bat, my internet cut out twice! Had to restart my router, sweating buckets ’cause I didn’t wanna waste his time. Finally got back online, and we jumped in. Asked my dumb questions, and he laughed at some of ’em. Wrapped it up after 45 minutes, thanked him like a million times, and saved the recording. Felt so relieved, like a weight lifted off my shoulders. Later, I realized I forgot to ask about his dog, which he always posts pics of. Oh well, next time maybe!
Putting It Out There
Time to turn that chat into something shareable. I opened my editing app – it’s just a basic one – and chopped out all the “ums” and awkward pauses. Added some simple text overlays for his quotes, ’cause ain’t nobody watching silence. Then wrote a little caption for my blog, keeping it loose and fun. Dropped in a few of those behind-the-scenes facts, like the router drama and the napkin story. Hit publish, and…crickets at first. Felt kinda weird, like no one cared. But slowly, comments trickled in, folks saying it felt raw and real. Ended up learning that messiness makes it human – don’t gotta be perfect.
So yeah, that’s how I rolled with Victor Vaughns. It was a bumpy ride, but totally worth it. Now, I’m thinking of poking around for more artists next. What y’all think?
