Venom Talk: Top Moments of Venom in Movies and Comics

Alright folks, lemme tell ya about this little thing I was messing around with the other day – Venom Talk. Sounds kinda cool, right? Well, it was a bit of a rollercoaster, lemme tell ya.

So, I started off by, you know, just getting the basic setup done. First thing’s first, I grabbed the Venom framework. Downloaded it, extracted all that jazz. Then I kinda poked around, figuring out where everything was. It’s always a bit of a treasure hunt with these things, isn’t it?

Next up, configuration. This is where things started to get interesting. Had to mess around with the config files, you know, setting up the listeners and all that. Figured I’d start with a simple HTTP listener, see if I could get it to connect back to my machine. Spent a good hour just tweaking settings, trying to get it right.

Then came the fun part: generating the payload. Venom gives you a bunch of options here. I decided to go with a Windows executable, just for kicks. Fired up the command, tweaked a few parameters, and boom – payload was ready. I renamed it to something innocent-looking, of course. Can’t be too obvious, right?

After that, I spun up a test VM. A fresh install, just to be safe. Transferred the payload over there, and then… the moment of truth. Double-clicked it. Nothing seemed to happen. Hmm. Checked back on my listener. Still nothing. Crap.

So, I started digging. Firewall? AV? Turns out, Windows Defender was being a bit of a pain. Disabled it (temporarily, of course!). Tried again. This time… bingo! A connection! Venom shell popped up on my screen. Finally!

From there, it was all about playing around. Tried a few basic commands – whoami, ipconfig, you know, the usual. Just to see what I could do. It was pretty cool, honestly. Felt like a proper hacker for a few minutes there.

  • Lesson learned #1: Always check your firewalls and AV. They can be real killjoys.
  • Lesson learned #2: Test, test, test! Don’t just assume it’ll work on the first try.

Now, I’m not gonna go into detail about all the other things I tried. Let’s just say I was exploring the capabilities. And of course, this was all for educational purposes only! Gotta keep it ethical, folks.

Anyway, that’s the gist of it. Venom Talk. It’s a neat tool, but it definitely takes some getting used to. But hey, that’s half the fun, right?
