Van Van Suzuki 125 Problems: Common Issues and How to Fix Them! Must Read.

Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Suzuki VanVan 125 lately. It’s a 2013 model with about 12,500 miles on the clock. Cute little thing, ain’t it? Always kept up with fresh oil, regular MOT, the whole nine yards. Never been dropped or in any accidents. Thing was running like a dream, no joke. Then, out of nowhere, bam! Problems.

Starting Trouble

First off, I noticed it started cutting out randomly. Like, I’d be cruising along and it would just… die. No warning, no nothing. Super annoying, right? So, I started digging around. I mean I’m not a mechanic, you know, but I can do the easy stuff.

Ignition Key Stuff

Some folks online were saying it might be a bad contact in the ignition barrel. I checked the key situation. Turns out, I had different keys for the gas tank and the ignition. Apparently, that could mean the ignition was replaced at some point. Hmm, maybe that’s related?

Fuel Injection Change

I found out this bike switched to fuel injection in 2007. Mine is a 2013, so it’s definitely fuel-injected. The old-timers were saying this made the throttle a bit snappier, but it doesn’t really solve my problem does it. It still cuts out.

Lack of Power

This little air-cooled four-stroke engine, it’s got some pep in the lower gears, but overall it just feels like it’s lacking some serious oomph. I mean, I wasn’t expecting a race bike, but come on! You twist the throttle, and it’s like, “Nah, I’m good.”

Service Manual

I even went and downloaded the service manual. Yeah, I know, me, actually reading a manual! It’s got all these diagrams and stuff. I skimmed through it. Got a little lost, to be honest. But, hey, at least I tried, right?

Forum Help

Found a VanVan forum online. Bunch of guys on there who seem to know these bikes inside and out. Still working up the courage to post my issues, but it’s there if I need it.

  • Checked ignition key situation. Different keys for gas and ignition.
  • Confirmed fuel injection (it’s a 2013 model).
  • Noticed lack of overall power.
  • Downloaded and briefly looked at the service manual.
  • Found a helpful VanVan forum.

So, yeah, that’s where I’m at with this whole VanVan 125 thing. Still trying to figure out why it keeps cutting out and why it feels so sluggish. It’s a fun little bike, but these issues are driving me nuts. Anyone out there got any ideas? Let me know in the comments, I guess. I’m open to suggestions! I’ll keep messing with it and see what happens. Stay tuned, I’ll probably post an update if I figure something out. Hopefully, it’s not something expensive. Ugh!
