Yesterday, I was watching a boxing match and got curious about the punch stats. I’d heard of CompuBox but never really dug into it. So, I decided to give it a shot and see what I could find out.

My CompuBox Stats Deep Dive
First, I opened my browser. I typed in “CompuBox stats” and hit enter. Pretty straightforward, right? A bunch of results popped up, but I was more interested in playing around myself rather than reading articles.
I found an old fight I really enjoyed. I grabbed a pen and paper, ’cause, you know, old school. Then, I started watching, keeping track of every jab, power punch, and total punch thrown by each fighter. It was kinda tedious, to be honest.
- Round 1: I felt like I was all thumbs trying to tally everything. Missed a few, I’m sure.
- Round 2: Got a little better, but my hand started cramping. Note-taking is a workout!
- By Round 5: I thought, “There’s gotta be a better way!” It was taking forever, and my counts were probably off.
After that, I paused the fight and did some more searching. I quickly realized that manually tracking stats is not the way to go, especially not during a live match! I needed to check more to see if someone can get the official CompuBox stats.
I figured out that CompuBox is a whole system, and it is done by some guys that are good at it! Manually doing it myself? Not practical.
