You wanna know about that there CB500 top speed, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, that there bike, it ain’t no slouch. It’s got some pep in its step, that’s for sure. I heard tell it can go faster than a greased piglet at a county fair.

Now, I ain’t no expert on these newfangled machines, but I heard some folks talkin’ down at the general store the other day. They was sayin’ that the CB500, it’s a Honda, and Hondas are known for bein’ good and reliable, like an old mule. They just keep goin’ and goin’.
This here CB500, they say it’s got a good engine. Some say about 47, maybe 48 horsepower. Don’t rightly know what that means exactly, but it sounds like a lot, don’t it? Like a whole team of horses pullin’ ya down the road. They also say the engine is smaller and lighter, like CB750. Makes it easier to handle, I reckon. That’s important, especially if you ain’t as young as you used to be, like me.
I heard some young whippersnappers talkin’ ’bout somethin’ called “zero to sixty”. Said this here CB500 top speed can do it in somethin’ like 4 or 5 seconds. Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds mighty fast to me. Faster than I can run to the outhouse, that’s for darn sure! And quarter mile time is about 13s, so powerful.
- Fast? You bet your bottom dollar it’s fast!
- That there engine, it’s a good one. Reliable, like I said.
- It can go from nothin’ to sixty quicker than a chicken on a hot plate.
And the top speed? Well, now that’s where things get real interestin’. I heard some folks sayin’ it can go over 110 miles per hour. Some even said it can go 112 mph. Now, I ain’t never been that fast in my life, not even when I was runnin’ from that angry rooster back in ’58. Imagine cruisin’ along the motorway, no problem. But, this other fella, said his CB500, he’s a big guy, mind you, said he only got it up to about 106 mph. So, I reckon it depends on who’s ridin’ it, and maybe how much they had for breakfast.
Some fellas like to tinker with their bikes. They put on these things called “tuning kits”, like dressin’ up a pig for the fair. Said each of these kits can make the bike different. One fella said his tuning kit makes shifts more positive, whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though. Another mentioned his makes acceleration safer when you’re going heavy, he said. They say a tough chain drive carries power to the rear wheel. Sounds complicated to me, but I guess it works.

They say it’s got good brakes, too. Somethin’ called DOT4 brake fluid. Sounds important, especially if you’re goin’ that fast. You gotta be able to stop on a dime, or you’ll end up in a ditch, or worse!
Now, I don’t know if I’d ever go that fast myself. I’m more of a slow-and-steady kinda gal. But if you’re lookin’ for a bike that can really move, that CB500 top speed, it sounds like it’s a good one. Just remember to be careful out there. And wear a helmet. And maybe don’t eat too much before you ride.
I heard some folks sayin’ you can take it out on long trips, too. Powerful enough for that, they say. That’s good to know, I reckon. Nothin’ worse than bein’ stuck on the side of the road with a broken-down bike. Sounds like this CB500 is pretty reliable, though. Just like that old mule I was tellin’ ya about.
So, there ya have it. That’s what I know about that there CB500 top speed. It’s fast, it’s reliable, and it sounds like a whole lotta fun. Just be careful out there, and don’t go tryin’ to outrun any angry roosters. You might just end up regrettin’ it.
- Top speed is somethin’ like 110 or 112 miles per hour, maybe.
- It’s a Honda, so you know it’s gonna be good.
- It’s got good brakes, which is important when you’re goin’ that fast.
- You can take it on long trips.
That’s all I got for ya. Hope that helps you out some. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go see about gettin’ some more feed for my chickens. They ain’t as fast as that CB500, but they sure are tasty.
