Well, let me tell you, I ain’t no expert on them fancy car races, but I hear a lot about these NASCAR things. My grandson, bless his heart, he’s glued to the TV when they’re on. Says it’s the biggest thing since sliced bread. So, I picked up a thing or two, just listening to him holler and hoot. If you’re askin’ ’bout the biggest NASCAR races, well, that’s like askin’ which of my grandkids is my favorite, all got something special. But some, they just shine a little brighter, you know?
That Daytona 500, now that’s a big one. Heard it called “The Great American Race”. Even I know that one. It’s like the granddaddy of ’em all. They say it’s the most “prestige” one. Sounds important, don’t it? They race down there in Florida, in a place called Daytona. Seems like a real hootenanny. Lots of folks go, I reckon. They go round and round that big ol’ track. My grandson, he gets all worked up about it. Says it’s the one everyone wants to win. Like winnin’ the lottery, I guess. This race, you see, it’s a real big deal.
Then there’s other races, too. He mentioned some like, Talladega. Says that one’s a real nail-biter. Cars goin’ so fast, you can’t hardly see ’em. Bunch of crashes, he says. That one is also very famous for NASCAR, I guess they hold it two times a year. One in spring and one in fall. Sounds a bit scary to me, but he loves it. Says it’s exciting. I just hope them drivers are careful. Don’t want nobody gettin’ hurt. He told me there was a real good one in 2013. Seems like it was yesterday, but it’s already been over 10 years. Time just flies, don’t it?
And what about that place called Bristol? I think it’s in Tennessee. My grandson told me they have a race at night there. He said 2012 was the best. I don’t know why, but it must be something! He was just a little tyke then, but he remembers it like it was yesterday. These races got a way of stickin’ with you, I reckon. Like an old song you can’t get out of your head.
I heard about a race in Phoenix, too. Don’t know much about that one, but it’s probably a big deal, too. They got races all over the place, it seems. Keeps them drivers busy, I reckon. And keeps my grandson glued to that darn TV. He loves it, but I don’t really understand. I prefer a quiet evening with my knitting, thank you very much.
These NASCAR fellas, they go to a lot of trouble, building them big stands for folks to watch. Must be somethin’ to see, all them people cheerin’ and carryin’ on. I imagine it’s quite a sight. They call those things “grandstands”. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like somethin’ for a king or queen. But I guess them race car drivers are like royalty to some folks. The size of them things is just huge. How do they build that? I can’t even imagine.
My grandson tried to explain all the rules to me once. Flags and “playoffs” and “penalties”. Sounds complicated. Like tryin’ to learn a whole new language. I just nod and smile. He gets so excited, I don’t have the heart to tell him I don’t understand a lick of it. It’s all a bit much for this old lady. Just watching them cars going in circles is enough to make me dizzy.

So, there you have it. That’s what I know about them biggest NASCAR races. Not much, but it’s somethin’. If you really want to know, you better ask my grandson. He’s the expert. Me, I’m just an old lady who likes peace and quiet. But I gotta admit, even I get a little curious sometimes, watchin’ them cars zoom around. It’s a whole different world, that’s for sure. They sure are fast. And they sure are popular.
I don’t know much about bettin’ on these things. Sounds risky to me. Like throwin’ your money away. But I guess some folks like to do it. Adds to the excitement, I suppose. Just be careful, that’s all I gotta say. Don’t go bettin’ the farm on some race car. You might end up regrettin’ it. I saw people lose everything on TV, you don’t want to be like them. Trust me.
In 2023, I think they have a lot of big races. Too many to remember. Anyway, I think those are the big ones. If you want to know more, go ask someone else. I am tired of talking about cars now.
