Okay, so I wanted to make a board game night a bit more interesting, and I’d always heard about Trivial Pursuit, but honestly, I had no clue how it was actually played. So, I dug into it and figured I’d share what I learned, step-by-step, like I do.

Getting Started: The Board and Pieces
First, I unboxed everything. The board is a circle, it’s obvious, split into six colored “spokes” and a central hub. You’ve got these little pie-shaped playing pieces, and a bunch of colored wedges that fit into those pieces.
Setting up the Game
We took the little circular playing and each choose a color.
- Pick a playing piece. We each grabbed one of those pie-shaped pieces.
- Place it on the board. Everyone starts in the center hub.
How to Play, My First Time
Then it came to the instructions. The goal is to collect all six different colored wedges by correctly answering trivia questions. You do the game by going around and land in different color.

- Roll the die. This tells you how many spaces to move.
- Move your piece. You can move in any direction along the spokes or the outer circle.
- Answer a question. The color of the space you land on determines the category of the question you have to answer. Someone else grabs a card and reads the corresponding question.
- Got it right? You get to roll again!
- Got it wrong? Your turn ends. Bummer.
Getting Those Wedges!
This is where I got a little confused at first. The instructions said to get a color wedge, you need to move your pie playing piece to the right space.
- Headquarters Spaces: Those are the spaces at the end of each colored spoke, where it meets the outer circle. They’re also called HQ.
- Landing on an HQ: If you land on an HQ space and answer the question correctly, you get a wedge of that color to put in your pie piece. Sweet!
Winning the Whole Thing
I figured how to win and we kept playing to see who is the winner.
- Fill your pie! Once you’ve collected all six colored wedges, you gotta head back to the center hub.
- The Final Question: You have to answer one last question, in a category chosen by the other players. No pressure, right?
- Victory! Get that final question right, and you’ve won! Bragging rights secured.
It sounds a little complicated at first, but once you get going, it’s pretty straightforward. Just a lot of rolling, moving, and hoping you know some random facts! My friends and I had some good time that night, now I kind dig this game.
