Those models are the M600, M750, and M900. I remember when I was a kid, I saw an M900 in real life and fell in love with it.
Getting my hands on one
So, after all this research, I finally decided to take the plunge and get myself a used Monster 1200. I found a decent deal on a 2017 model with relatively low mileage. Let me tell you, the feeling of finally owning one of these was incredible. The power, the sound, the design – everything about it just screamed “Ducati.” It’s an air-cooled bike, so I thought it was simpler. I heard from some people that the 1200 is a bit better than the 796.
Maintenance and upkeep
Now, owning a Ducati isn’t just about the initial purchase. You’ve gotta keep these things in good shape, and that means regular maintenance. I’m not the most mechanically inclined person, so I usually take it to a trusted mechanic for the major stuff. The great thing about these bikes is that many owners say that they are reliable. On average, owners give them a rating of 4.5 to 5 stars. Also, I found out that these bikes come in limited numbers. Even an entry-level bike has the best components. I do like the idea of modifying my bike and making it my own.
The real cost of ownership
When you add it all up – the initial cost, the maintenance, the occasional repair – owning a Ducati Monster 1200 is definitely not cheap. But for me, it’s totally worth it.
