Thinking of Buying? Learn About the Ducati Monster 1200 Cost First!

Alright, so today I wanna talk about something that’s been on my mind lately – the Ducati Monster 1200 and how much it actually costs to own one of these beasts. Now, I’ve always been a huge fan of Ducati, and the Monster 1200, in particular, has always caught my eye.

First off, I started digging around to figure out the actual price tag of a Monster 1200. The 1200s have an engine called the Testastretta II. I remember reading somewhere that the 1200s are different from the 1200r because of the pistons, but they have the same engine. I found that Ducati started making these bikes back in 2014, so there’s a bit of a range in prices depending on the year and condition. I also remember coming across some articles that mentioned that the Ducati Monster 1200 is a “naked” motorcycle, made from 2014 to 2021. They also mentioned that there’s nothing to suggest the Monster will be any different. The build quality is typically high for Ducati who are happy to concentrate on the upper end of the motorcycle market. They introduced the first three models in the 1990s. Those models are the M600, M750, and M900. I remember when I was a kid, I saw an M900 in real life and fell in love with it.

Getting my hands on one

So, after all this research, I finally decided to take the plunge and get myself a used Monster 1200. I found a decent deal on a 2017 model with relatively low mileage. Let me tell you, the feeling of finally owning one of these was incredible. The power, the sound, the design – everything about it just screamed “Ducati.” It’s an air-cooled bike, so I thought it was simpler. I heard from some people that the 1200 is a bit better than the 796.

Maintenance and upkeep

Now, owning a Ducati isn’t just about the initial purchase. You’ve gotta keep these things in good shape, and that means regular maintenance. I’m not the most mechanically inclined person, so I usually take it to a trusted mechanic for the major stuff. The great thing about these bikes is that many owners say that they are reliable. On average, owners give them a rating of 4.5 to 5 stars. Also, I found out that these bikes come in limited numbers. Even an entry-level bike has the best components. I do like the idea of modifying my bike and making it my own.

The real cost of ownership

When you add it all up – the initial cost, the maintenance, the occasional repair – owning a Ducati Monster 1200 is definitely not cheap. But for me, it’s totally worth it.

So, yeah, that’s my story of getting into the world of Ducati Monster 1200 ownership. It’s been a wild ride so far, and I’m loving every minute of it. If you’re thinking about getting one of these, just be prepared for the costs involved, but also be prepared for an amazing experience.
