Today I wanna talk about something that really got me thinking – oblique fractures in famous athletes. You know, those nasty breaks that happen at an angle? I got curious about this after watching a game and seeing one of my favorite players get taken off the field with a leg injury. It got me wondering, how often does this happen, and who has it happened to?

So, I started digging around. First, I hit up Google, just to get a general idea. I typed in “famous athletes oblique fracture” and scrolled through a bunch of articles and news reports. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I started to see some patterns.
Some Names That Popped Up
- Kevin Durant: This one was big. He’s a basketball superstar, and he had one of these fractures in his foot. I read that it really messed up his season. He had to get surgery, and it took him a long time to get back on the court.
- Joel Embiid: Another basketball guy. He’s a beast on the court, but he had an oblique fracture in his face, of all places. Can you imagine? I saw some pictures, and it looked brutal. He had to wear a special mask when he came back.
- Blake Griffin: Yet another basketball player! Seems like this kind of thing is pretty common in that sport. He had an oblique fracture in his toe. I read he played through some of it, which is just crazy to me.
- Tony Romo: Okay, switching sports here. This guy was a quarterback in the NFL. I learned he had several oblique fractures in his back. I guess getting tackled by those huge guys can really do a number on you.
- Clayton Kershaw: A baseball pitcher. He’s one of the best in the game. He had an oblique fracture in his rib. I found out that this is a pretty common injury for pitchers because of all the twisting they do.
After I got a decent list of names, I started to look into each case individually. I wanted to know what happened, how they got treated, and how long it took them to recover. I spent hours reading interviews, watching old game footage, and even looking at some medical reports (the ones that were public, anyway). It was like being a detective, piecing together the story of each injury.
It was pretty wild to see how these injuries affected these athletes’ careers. Some of them bounced back pretty quickly, but others struggled for a long time. It really showed me how tough these guys are, and how much they put their bodies on the line to play the sports they love.
This whole thing was a real eye-opener for me. I never realized how common these kinds of injuries were, or how much they could impact an athlete’s life. It made me appreciate these guys even more, knowing what they go through to entertain us. And it made me a little more careful when I’m playing sports myself! I definitely don’t want to end up with an oblique fracture.
