The Spartan Kick: A Full Guide to Mastering the Move.

Alright folks, lemme tell you ’bout my experience with the spartan kick today. Saw it online, looked simple enough, figured I’d give it a shot. You know, try to get a little more mobile, feel a bit less like a rusty hinge.

First thing I did? Watched a couple of videos on YouTube. Seemed like everyone had a different way of explaining it. Some were all fancy with the names of muscles and stuff, I just needed the basic “don’t fall on your face” version. So, I found a guy who kept it real simple, showed the kick a few times, and I thought, “Okay, I can probably manage that.”

Next up: warmup. Can’t just go flailing around like a newborn giraffe, gotta loosen up a bit. Did some arm circles, leg swings, a little bit of jogging in place, the usual. I’m not gonna lie, I skipped the fancy stretches. Just wanted to get the blood flowing.

Then came the kick itself. Started slow. Really slow. Held onto a chair at first, just to get the feel of the movement. Trying to keep my back straight, core engaged, all that jazz. The first few kicks were pathetic. My leg felt like it weighed a ton. My balance was all over the place. But I kept at it.

After a few minutes, I ditched the chair. Tried to do it free-standing. Wobbled like crazy. Felt like I was gonna topple over any second. But I focused on my breathing, kept my eyes on a fixed point, and just kept kicking. Not high, not fast, just controlled and deliberate.

Here’s where things got interesting. I started to feel it in my hips. Like, a good stretch, a feeling of opening up. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t painful either. Just a bit…different. And my core started to burn a little. Turns out, you actually gotta use those muscles to stay upright.

I probably did, like, ten kicks on each leg. Took plenty of breaks. No point in overdoing it on day one. But by the end, I felt…better. More mobile. Less creaky. Not like a superhero or anything, but definitely not as much like an old man either.

Here’s the breakdown of my key takeaways:

  • Start slow. Seriously, don’t try to be a ninja right away.
  • Focus on form. It’s better to do it right than to do it fast.
  • Listen to your body. If something hurts, stop.
  • Don’t give up. It’s gonna feel awkward at first, but it gets easier.

So, yeah, the spartan kick. It’s not a miracle cure, but it’s a decent little exercise to add to your routine. I’m gonna keep doing it for a week or two and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll even try to kick something eventually. But for now, I’m just happy I didn’t fall on my face.

My overall thoughts

I will keep practicing this exercise and see how I feel and maybe in the future will share what it is like, and if it’s worth it.
