- An up-and-coming assistant: Sometimes a top assistant from a powerhouse program gets a look. Risky, but could be a home run.
The “Probably Not, But Fans Will Dream” List:
- Jay Wright: He’s retired, seems happy. But you know his name will be whispered. Highly, highly unlikely, but the dreamers will dream.
- A big-name NBA coach: Rarely happens that they come back to college unless it’s a perfect fit. Money is different, lifestyle is different.
It’s a whole thing, you know? My buddies and I will argue about it for hours. “No way they hire him!” or “He’s the perfect fit, what are you talking about?!” That’s half the fun of it, I guess. The speculation, the debate. It gets you through the offseason sometimes.
