Alright, so I’ve been diving into some of these later-round prospects lately, you know, trying to find those hidden gems. And this name, Jordan Magee, kept popping up on my radar. So, I thought, okay, let’s actually sit down and see what this kid’s all about. It’s easy to just read a blurb, but I like to actually try and get a feel for a player myself.

My Process with Magee
First thing I did was just pull up some game footage. Not the highlight reels, though those are fun, but actual game snaps. I wanted to see him play when things weren’t just going perfectly. I watched a couple of Temple games from last season. Just sat there, trying to focus on him, number 8, flying around.
What I started noticing:
- The guy’s got some real juice. He moves well, you can see that pretty quickly. Looks like he can cover a bit of ground.
- He’s not afraid to stick his nose in there. Saw him make a good number of tackles, and he seemed to be around the ball a lot.
Then, I started digging a bit into what the “experts” were saying, just to see if my eyes were deceiving me. Saw some stuff about his pro day numbers, and yeah, they backed up the athleticism I thought I saw. He apparently ran pretty fast, jumped well, all that good stuff. That always makes you perk up a bit, especially for a linebacker.
Of course, then you start thinking about the other side of it. Temple isn’t exactly a powerhouse, so you always wonder about the level of competition. Is he just looking good against lesser guys, or can this translate? That’s always the million-dollar question with players from smaller schools, isn’t it?
My Takeaways
So, after watching him, reading a bit, and just letting it all marinate, here’s what I’m thinking. I didn’t go into this expecting to find the next Ray Lewis, obviously. But I came away pretty intrigued. He’s got that raw athleticism you can’t really teach. You see him chase down plays, and you think, “Okay, there’s something to work with there.”

I remember a few years back, everyone was high on this one linebacker, supposed to be a sure thing. I watched him, and he just looked… stiff. All the measurables, but he didn’t look like a football player on the field, if you know what I mean. Magee, on the other hand, he looks like he enjoys hitting people and running around. Sometimes, that gut feeling matters.
Will he be a Day 1 starter? Probably not, let’s be real. But as a guy you could potentially grab later in the draft, develop him, let him contribute on special teams initially while he learns the ropes? Yeah, I can see that. He’s got that kind of profile that makes coaches think they can mold him. He’s not a finished product, which can be a good thing if you’ve got good coaching.
So yeah, that was my little dive into Jordan Magee. Not saying I’m some super scout, but I like to do my own homework on these guys. He’s definitely one I’ll be keeping an eye on come draft weekend, just to see where he lands. Could be one of those players who surprises some folks down the line if he gets into the right situation. We’ll see, we’ll see.
