Okay, so I decided to check out this place called Turi in Ecuador. It’s up on a hill and supposed to have some killer views of Cuenca city. Sounds pretty cool, right?
First off, I had to figure out how to get there. Turns out, you can grab a taxi, or if you’re feeling adventurous (and want to save a few bucks), you can hop on a bus. I went with the bus ’cause, why not? I figured it’d be a good way to see a bit more of the city on the way. The bus ride itself was, well, let’s just say it was an experience. Lots of people, a bit bumpy, but hey, that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?
Once I got to Turi, I started walking around. There’s this big church, the Mirador de Turi, that everyone talks about. It’s pretty impressive, I gotta admit. White walls, big bell towers, the whole nine yards. It’s one of those things that really catches your eye when you see it.
But the real reason I came here was for the view. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. From up there, you can see the whole of Cuenca spread out below you. It’s like looking at a giant map, but way cooler. All the buildings, the streets, the river… it’s a really awesome sight. I spent a good chunk of time just staring out at the city, taking it all in.

I also noticed there were a bunch of little shops and restaurants around. You know, the kind of places where you can grab a snack or a souvenir. I picked up a little something to remember the trip by. Nothing fancy, just a little trinket. I also grabbed some food from a street vendor. It was delicious!
All in all, I’d say my trip to Turi was a success. It was a pretty chill day, just walking around, enjoying the view, and soaking up the atmosphere. If you’re ever in Cuenca, I definitely recommend checking it out. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon and see the city from a different perspective.
Oh, and one more thing! There was also this swing thing. You’ve probably seen something like it before, you can ride it and get a great view. Looked like fun! If you are into that, it’s something to think about doing.
