Okay, so I finally got around to messing with the top speed on my Suzuki DR400. Been meaning to do this for ages, just never had the time, ya know?

First things first, I had to find a good stretch of road. Needed somewhere long, straight, and with not a lot of traffic. Found this old backroad out by the county line. Perfect.
Before I even thought about hitting top speed, I made damn sure the bike was good to go. Checked the tire pressure, chain tension, all that jazz. Didn’t want anything going wrong when I was pushing it.
Started off slow, just warming everything up. Gradually worked my way up through the gears. The DR400 pulls pretty good, especially in the low end. Gets a little…less exciting as you climb higher though.
Once I was comfortable, I tucked in as much as I could. Ain’t pretty, I know, but every little bit helps, right? Started giving it full throttle in fifth gear. Held on tight!
I was watching the speedo like a hawk. It crept up…and up…and up. I saw it hit 90mph, then 92mph… I think I saw 93mph for a split second. Maybe I was imagining it.

Honestly, it felt like it took forever to get there. The DR400 ain’t exactly a rocket. But hey, I was pushing it to its limit. Felt pretty good.
Let off the throttle slowly, let the bike coast down. Didn’t wanna slam on the brakes and risk anything. Pulled over to the side of the road to let everything cool down.
So, yeah, my Suzuki DR400 top speed? I’m gonna say around 93mph, give or take. It wasn’t an exact science, and I’m sure conditions matter. Maybe if I had a tailwind…
Next up? I think I’m gonna look into some mods to get a little more out of it. Maybe a new exhaust or something. Always something to tinker with, right?
That’s all I got for now. Ride safe out there!
