Yesterday, I got a wild idea – let’s try to make something with this “Start Em Sit Em” thing. I mean, what is it anyway? Sounds like a game or something. So, I started digging around. At first, I thought it was related to that fantasy football stuff. You know, where you pick players and see how they do? Turns out, there’s a lot of that online. DraftKings, that’s one place, they even call themselves the “Official Daily Fantasy Partner of the NFL.” Okay, interesting. Maybe I can build something around that.
But then I found other stuff. Like, “START” as a job training program. Helps people get education and all that. Cool, but not really what I’m looking for. Then there’s this whole thing about joining leagues and drafting players in fantasy football. Sounds complicated. I just want to mess around with this phrase.
Diving Deeper
I kept going. DuckDuckGo, my go-to search engine. Love that it doesn’t track you. Anyway, I found some news from Pasadena. Sports, business, entertainment… Nothing really clicked for my “Start Em Sit Em” project.
Then, bam! I stumbled upon something about Steam. Not the steamy kind, haha, but the game platform. There are these commands you can use with it. Might be useful later, I don’t know. I also saw something about Lyft Pink. Fancy rides and all that. Not sure how that fits in either.
Getting Technical (Just a Bit)
Okay, so I did run into some technical stuff. Like this thing called URL encoding. Basically, making sure web addresses are understood by computers. Not super relevant, but you never know. And then, just for kicks, I checked out how to make a Facebook account on an iPhone. Already got one, but hey, knowledge is power, right?
My “Start Em Sit Em” Project
So, after all this digging, what did I actually do with “Start Em Sit Em”? Well, I decided to make a little program. It’s nothing fancy, just a simple tool. Here’s what it does:
- Start: I made a button that says “Start”. When you click it, it kicks off a timer.
- Em: This part is a bit silly. I added a list of random names. Every time the timer ticks, it picks a name from the list. Kind of like drawing names out of a hat.
- Sit: And finally, there’s a “Sit” button. When you hit that, the timer stops. And the last name that was picked, well, that’s the one that “sits”.
It’s super basic, I know. But it was fun to build! I’m not even sure what I’ll use it for. Maybe a goofy way to decide who gets the last slice of pizza? Or who has to take out the trash? The possibilities are endless, really. Anyway, that’s my “Start Em Sit Em” story. Hope you got a chuckle out of it.
