Okay, so I hit up Spring Meadow Golf Course in Wall, New Jersey the other day. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a mixed bag, but overall, a decent golfing experience.
First off, I drove down to Farmingdale because I heard this place was pretty good for its price. It’s tucked away near Allaire State Park, which is a nice area if you’re coming from the shore towns like Belmar or Spring Lake. I got there and checked in. The staff were pretty chill, nothing to write home about but friendly enough.
- Headed to the first tee, and I could tell right away this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. It’s a challenging course, no doubt.
- Some of the fairways, especially the 13th, looked rough. Like, really rough. I was half expecting to see a Mars rover driving around out there.
- But then, the greens were surprisingly nice. They were in good shape, just a bit slow. I’m not the best putter, so maybe that’s a good thing for me.
The Good and the Bad
I played the full 18, and honestly, the 18th hole is a beauty. It’s a great finishing hole, really makes you want to come back and conquer it. Throughout the day, I noticed the course has some really unique hole layouts. It’s not your standard back-and-forth kind of course, which I appreciated.
After I finished up, I grabbed a bite at the clubhouse. The food was okay, nothing special, but it hit the spot after a long day on the course.
Overall, I’d say Spring Meadow is worth checking out if you’re in the area and looking for a challenging round without breaking the bank. It’s got its quirks, and some parts need some love, but for the price, it’s a solid option. I heard some people say they haven’t played there in decades but it seems like it’s worth a visit for anyone looking for a game near the Jersey Shore. I’ll probably head back there again sometime, maybe when they’ve spruced up those fairways a bit.
