Okay, so, I wanted to keep a better eye on how Southampton was doing in the Premier League. I’m not a die-hard fan or anything, but I like to follow them. You know, see where they are in the standings and all that. I thought to myself, “Why not make this a regular thing?”
So, I started by checking out a few different websites. I just typed “Southampton standings” into the search bar, and boom, a bunch of results popped up. Some were from sports news sites, and some were from the official Premier League site. I checked out a few of them, just to get a feel for the info available.
Then I decided I needed a way to keep track of their progress. I mean, I’m not going to remember every single match result, right? So, I opened up a simple spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just something to note down the basics.

- League Position
I started filling it in with the most recent results I could find. I went back through the past few matches and added them to the spreadsheet. It was kind of interesting to see how they’d been doing over the past few weeks. There were a couple of wins in there, but also a few losses. Typical stuff, really.
Keep Track of Southampton Standings
After I had a few weeks’ worth of data, I started thinking about how to make this more, you know, useful. I figured it would be cool to see their position in the league table change over time. So I added a column for that. Each time I updated the results, I also noted down where they stood in the league.
Now, I just update this spreadsheet every week or so. It’s not a big deal, but it’s kind of cool to see how Southampton is progressing. They’re not at the top of the table or anything, but they’re holding their own. They are not doing well at the moment, with an average of 0.27 points per game, so I will keep track of their standings to see if they can improve.
This turned into a little hobby, I guess. It’s just a simple way for me to follow Southampton’s journey in the Premier League. And hey, maybe it’ll inspire me to actually go to a game sometime! I mean, probably not, but you never know.
It is a good experience for me to learn how to keep track of a football team’s standings, I hope I can use this skill to keep track of more football teams in the future!
