So, I put my thinking cap on and figured out Sofia’s role in all this. She’s called the “Storykeeper”, which sounds pretty important, right? Because of that, she’s the one who discovers that Elena has been stuck in this amulet for a whopping 41 years. Imagine that!

I mean, who wouldn’t? And not just free her, but also help her get back to Avalor and liberate her kingdom. That’s a lot for a little princess to take on, but she goes for it.

The Difference Between Them
Then there was something interesting. Unlike some other princesses who are all about finding their Prince Charming, Elena isn’t going to have a love interest. I thought that was pretty cool and different.
Finally, I stumbled upon some tweets saying that “Elena of Avalor” and “Sofia the First” are their own separate shows, but they take place in the same universe and their stories cross over sometimes. That cleared up a lot of the confusion I had. These stories are standalone series but in the same universe and their stories intersect. That made everything so clear to me.
