Okay, dudes, let’s talk about this red hair mullet thing I tried. I saw it trending, and you know me, I gotta jump on the bandwagon, at least once, to see for myself.
The Inspiration
So, I’ve been seeing this red hair mullet popping up everywhere. All my socials are always blowing up. It looked kinda badass, kinda punk, but also… strangely stylish? I don’t know, I was intrigued.
The Prep
First, I had to get my hair ready. I have got dark hair, so I bleached my own hair. Oh my god, I feel like a mad scientist mixing all those chemicals. I slapped that bleach on, trying not to get it all over my bathroom, and waited. And waited. My scalp was starting to feel a little burn, And I am not feeling too good.
The Dye Job
After rinsing out the bleach and praying I didn’t fry all my hair off, it was time for the red. I went with this bright, almost firetruck red. I wanted it to be, like, REALLY red, you know? I carefully apply this dye to my hair to cover every inch of it. I waited another hour, and my scalp was starting to feel itchy.
The Cut
This is where it got tricky. I’m no hairstylist, obviously. I watched a bunch of mullet-cutting tutorials online, grabbed some scissors, and just went for it. I started by sectioning off the top, trying to keep it longer, and then just kinda… chopped away at the sides and back. It was messy, uneven, and I definitely panicked a few times. I kept trimming, trying to even it out, but it was a losing battle.
The (Disappointing) Result
- It’s…red. Definitely red.
- It’s a mullet…sort of. A very DIY, slightly lopsided mullet.
- It is very uneven, and I have to admit I cut my hair shorter than I expected.
Honestly, it’s not my best work. But hey, I tried it, right? It’s definitely a statement. I’m not sure I’d recommend doing this at home, unless you’re really confident with scissors and hair dye. Learn from my mistakes, people!
The Aftermath
I’ve been rocking this red mullet for a few days now. I get some weird looks, a few compliments (mostly from my friends who are probably just being nice), and a lot of “What did you DO?!” reactions. It’s growing on me, though. I’m starting to like the chaotic energy it gives off. I think my hair is a reflection of my own personality.
Would I do it again? Probably not. But am I gonna rock this red mess until it grows out? Absolutely.
