Okay, so today, I was really looking forward to catching the Rangers vs. Celtic game. I mean, this is the Old Firm we’re talking about! The hype was real, and I’ve been following both teams for a while now.
I woke up early, got my snacks ready, and made sure my streaming setup was all good to go. I had heard that Sky Sports Football and Main Event would be showing the match, and I wanted to watch it there. I found out that they were starting the broadcast from 2 pm, so I set a reminder. I was all set.
While waiting, I did some quick reading. I was aware that these two are always at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but seeing the actual numbers – Rangers with 55 titles and Celtic with 54 as of this year – that’s wild! And the fact that nobody else has won more than four times? Crazy stuff. No other team outside these two has won since 1984-85 when that guy Alex Ferguson was managing Aberdeen. Just shows how big this rivalry is.
I also saw somewhere that Rangers were out for this one. They lost to Celtic in the league cup on penalties earlier, back in December, so you know they were itching to get one back. Especially since it was Philippe Clement’s first Old Firm win after seven attempts and that too with an emphatic 3-0 win.
The match started, and I was glued to the screen. It was intense, you know? Every tackle, every pass, it all felt like it mattered so much more than usual. I remember seeing something about Hamza Igamane being a key player for Rangers. He had come off the bench to score for them in their last game against Motherwell, a 2-2 draw I think. He was one to watch for sure.
By the end of it, I had a feeling that Celtic would win the match. I mean it is like common knowledge that at least one goal would be scored in the second half. I’m not really into betting, but I saw online that people were betting on Celtic winning, and that there would be over 2.5 goals in the match. Made sense, these games are always high-scoring. Last time they met, it was 3-0 to Celtic, so that adds up.
It was a great day for a football fan, for sure. The atmosphere, the history, the quality of the game – it all lived up to the hype, I gotta say!
