Quick Pre Round Golf Stretches to Improve Your Game: Simple Warm-Up Guide for Golfers

Okay, so, I wanted to share my little routine I do before hitting the golf course. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s helped me feel a bit more loose and ready to swing. I call it my “pre-round golf stretches”.

First off, I get to the course, grab my clubs, and find a quiet spot. I usually start with some quad stretches. You know, just pulling one foot up behind me, holding it for a few seconds, then switching to the other leg. I do that about 10 times on each side. Easy peasy.

Next up, knee hugs. I bring one knee up to my chest, give it a good squeeze, and then switch. Again, about 10 reps on each leg. Feels good, especially in the hips.

Then come the leg swings. I like to do them side to side first. Just swing one leg out to the side, then back in, like a pendulum. After about 10 swings, I switch legs. Then, I do some front-to-back swings, just to get the hamstrings going. Nothing too wild, just nice and easy.

After that, I’ll do some heel sweeps. I walk forward, bending down to touch my toes with each step. If you can’t touch them, that’s fine. Just go as far as you comfortably can, feel a little stretch in the back of my legs. I’ll do that maybe 10 times on each leg.

Then, for a bit of fun, I’ll do some toe walks and heel walks. Exactly what it sounds like – walking on my tippy toes, then on my heels. I do each of those for about 20 seconds. It’s a good way to wake up the calves and ankles.

To get the blood pumping a little, I do some butt kicks. Just jogging in place, trying to kick my own butt with my heels. About 20 seconds of that, and I’m starting to feel warm. And I do some A skips. It’s like skipping, but I try to bring my knees up high with each step. A skips for 20 seconds gets me a little warm.

After that, side shuffle. It’s very easy, just shuffle from one side to another side. And I do it for 20 seconds.

Simple Summary

And that’s pretty much it! It’s a simple routine, takes maybe 5-10 minutes, but it really helps me feel more prepared for a round of golf. I’m no expert, but it works for me. Give it a try sometime and see if it helps you too!

Today, I did this routine. Nothing special, no any problem. I think I will keep doing this warm-up before playing golf.
