Alright, let me tell you what I went through trying to get some Backyard Baseball action going on my Nintendo Switch.
So, I was sitting around the other day, thinking about old games, you know? And Backyard Baseball popped into my head. Pablo Sanchez, Kenny Kawaguchi, all those guys. Man, good times. I figured, hey, that game would be perfect for the Switch! Easy controls, fun graphics, play anywhere. It just made sense.

First thing I did, I grabbed my Switch off the dock. Felt pretty hopeful, honestly. Went straight to the eShop. You know how it is.

And… well, not much came up. Got a few other baseball games, like RBI Baseball and stuff, maybe some indie titles I didn’t recognize. But no sign of the classic Humongous Entertainment joint. I scrolled down, tried variations like “Backyard Sports”, just in case. Still nothing.

Okay, maybe I missed something? Sometimes the eShop search is a bit wonky. So, I pulled out my phone. Went online.

Started clicking through links. Found a bunch of forum posts, Reddit threads, people asking the same thing I was. Seems like a lot of folks had the same idea. Lots of chatter about wanting it on the Switch.
The Not-So-Great News
After digging for a bit, the picture became clear. It just… isn’t there. Seems like it was never actually ported or released for the Switch. Found a few articles confirming it. Man, what a bummer. Seriously disappointing.
It feels like such a missed opportunity, right? That game has so much charm, and playing it on the go would have been awesome. I guess it’s stuck on older platforms for now, like PC.
So, What Now?
Well, my little quest ended there, really. No Backyard Baseball on my Switch today. I looked again at the other baseball games available, but none of them really have that same nostalgic feel, that specific kind of fun the old Backyard Sports games had.
