Alright, so it’s week 6 of the fantasy football season, and I just had to do some serious work on the waiver wire. You know how it goes, some players get injured, some just don’t perform as expected, and suddenly your roster’s looking pretty sad.

First thing I did was check out the injury reports. Man, there were a lot of them! I spent a good hour just scrolling through, trying to figure out who was out for the long haul and who might just miss a game or two.
Next, I looked at the available players. I focused on guys who had decent matchups in the coming weeks. I used to just grab the highest-projected player, but I’ve learned that’s not always the best strategy. Sometimes a lower-ranked guy with a good matchup can outperform a higher-ranked guy with a bad one.
I made a list of potential targets, trying to find players at positions where I was weak. My running back situation was a mess, thanks to that jerk going down, so I really needed to find some help there. I also looked for a wide receiver to fill in since my second starter has been a major disappointment.
- Running Back Targets:
- There was this guy who got a ton of carries last week after the starter got hurt. Looked like he could be a solid option.
- Another guy who’s been getting more involved in the passing game. Could be a good flex play.
- Wide Receiver Targets:
- Found a rookie who’s been getting a lot of targets lately. Might be worth a shot.
- A veteran who’s always been a reliable, if not flashy, option.
Then came the hard part – deciding who to drop. I hate dropping players I drafted, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I ended up dropping a couple of guys who just weren’t getting the job done, and one player who is hurt and expected to return in two or three weeks. It is hard to keep those players when your team is full of underperformers and you need to take risks. But the rules are the rules and we have to make a choice to keep up with the pace of the championship. It hurt, but it had to be done.
I put in my waiver claims, crossing my fingers that I’d get at least a couple of the guys I wanted. It’s always a gamble, but I felt pretty good about my chances. It’s kind of nerve-wracking waiting to see if your claims go through, especially when you feel you’re running out of time to save your season.

Luckily, I got a couple of good players to boost up my squad for this week and for the next one, so I’m feeling hopeful. Hopefully they’ll be ready to compete and bring me some much needed points in the next few games.
Week 6 Update
So, the waiver wire results are in, and I got two of the guys I wanted! My new running back had a decent game, and my new wide receiver actually had a breakout performance. Feeling pretty good about my pickups right now.
It’s still early in the season, but this week’s waiver wire moves definitely gave my team a boost. Hopefully, it’s the start of a turnaround, and I can still make a run at the playoffs. Fingers crossed!
