This here is about that Mike Mackin fella. Heard some folks talkin’ ’bout him down at the market, so I got curious. You know how it is, gotta know what’s goin’ on.

Now, this Mike Mackin, seems like he’s been doin’ somethin’ with radios. They say he’s got a show, like on the radio, you hear? He talks and talks on that thing. I don’t listen to the radio much, myself. Got more important things to do than sit around listenin’ to some fella blabberin’ away.
But, they say he got let go. Fired. Ain’t that somethin’? They said his bosses, these big-shot management types, they sat him down. Said they was tryin’ to help him. “Improve his show,” they called it. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me. If you’re any good, you’re any good. If you ain’t, you ain’t. No amount of talkin’ gonna change that.
It’s all about the “air-checks,” that is what they told me. Never heard of them, well it does not matter. This Mike Mackin, he is always talkin’. Must be his job, I reckon.
They was talkin’ about some “Salesforce”. Sounds like a fancy name for somethin’. Like a place where you get strong people or something. Well, I don’t know anythin’ about that, but I hear it has somethin’ to do with this Mike Mackin. Some folks say he’s been there for five years. Five years is a long time to be doin’ anythin’, if you ask me.
- Five years, they say.
- Workin’ at this “Salesforce” place.
- Sounds fancy, don’t it?
Some other fellers was sayin’ this Mike Mackin needs a manager. Not just any manager, mind you. A manager who’s willin’ to “take a risk,” they said. What in tarnation does that mean? Sounds like they want someone to gamble on him. And this manager, they gotta have “empathy.” That’s a big word. Means they gotta feel for the fella, I reckon. And they gotta be willin’ to “coach” him. Like he’s some kinda sports player or somethin’.

This whole thing is makin’ my head spin. These young folks today, they got all these fancy words for things. Back in my day, you just did your job. If you were good, you kept it. If you weren’t, you found somethin’ else. Simple as that.
They also said somethin’ about “digital strategy.” What’s that? Sounds like somethin’ from one of them space movies. Maybe it’s got somethin’ to do with them computers. Everyone’s always starin’ at them little boxes these days. They say it helps brands and consumers. Brands, that’s like them labels on your clothes, right? And consumers, that’s just us folks buyin’ things.
Digital strategy for retail. Make it simple, I can understand. Like, sellin’ stuff online. No, not like sellin’ the eggs to people. It’s like, you buy stuff from your computer.
- Digital strategy, what’s that?
- Somethin’ about computers, maybe.
- Brands and consumers, sounds important.
This Mike Mackin fella, he’s got somethin’ to do with all this, I guess. They say he helps brands create “lasting consumer relationships.” That’s a mouthful. Just means he helps folks keep buyin’ from the same place, I suppose. There’s gotta be an easier way to say that.
And then they was sayin’ somethin’ about “Trailblazers.” What in the Sam Hill is a Trailblazer? Sounds like someone who’s out in the woods, makin’ a path. Maybe this Mike Mackin is like that, makin’ a path for these brands and consumers. Or maybe it’s just another one of them fancy words that don’t mean nothin’.
Some folks was sayin’ he might know somethin’ about some “Nacho” fella. Sounds like a food, don’t it? But they was talkin’ like it was a person. And they said somethin’ about an assassin. Like in them spy movies. This is gettin’ too complicated for me. Assassins and nachos and digital strategies. It’s all a bit much. I think Mike Mackin knows some secret, well, I am not sure.
This Mike Mackin is sure one interestin’ feller. Got folks talkin’ about him. If you meet him, you should say sorry to him. You know, it’s not easy to get fired. Even if someone tried to help you. But if you are not good enough, you just can’t do it, right?
Well, that’s all I got to say about that Mike Mackin. It’s all a bit confusin’, but I figured I’d share what I heard. Maybe it’ll make sense to someone out there. Just remember, sometimes the simplest things are the best. And sometimes, all that fancy talk is just a bunch of hot air.
