Alright, so today I decided to dig into Michael Jordan’s free throw percentage. I mean, the guy’s a legend, right? But even legends have stats, and I wanted to see how he stacked up from the charity stripe.

First, I hit up the internet. You know, the usual spots – basketball reference websites, maybe some sports articles, anything to get the raw data. It took a bit of clicking around, but I finally found a bunch of pages that listed his regular season and playoff stats separately.
Regular Season Digging
I started with the regular season. I figured that’d be the biggest chunk of his career. I grabbed a pen and paper – yeah, I’m old school like that – and started jotting down the numbers. Season by season, I wrote down his free throws made and free throws attempted. It’s a bit tedious, but hey, gotta get the details right!
Once I had all the regular season numbers down, it was calculator time. I went season by season, dividing the makes by the attempts and multiplying by 100 to get the percentage. Wrote those down too. Then, I added up all the makes from every season, did the same for the attempts, and calculated the overall percentage.
Playoff Time!
Next up, the playoffs! I repeated the whole process. Found the playoff stats, jotted down the makes and attempts for each season, and crunched the numbers for each year and then the overall playoff percentage.
Putting it all Together
Now I had two big numbers: his regular season FT% and his playoff FT%. I wanted to see how they compared. Was he better under pressure? Did he slack off during the regular season? That kind of thing. I even thought about making a little chart, you know, to visualize it. Maybe next time!

Finally, I looked at my results, It show a clear picture of MJ’s free throw shooting. It’s not just about knowing the final percentage, but about seeing how I got there. It felt like my own little research project!
