Alright folks, lemme tell you about my recent adventure trying to snag a ticket at the McDonald’s drive-thru. Sounds simple, right? Wrong!
It all started last Saturday. Me and the kids were craving some McNuggets. Figured, hey, it’s a quick in-and-out situation. So we piled into the car and drove to the nearest Mickey D’s.
Got there, and the line was already snaking around the building. No biggie, I thought, I’ve waited in worse. We inched forward, slowly but surely. The kids were getting restless, asking every two seconds, “Are we there yet?”
Finally, we pulled up to the speaker. I ordered our usual: 20-piece McNuggets, a couple of Happy Meals, and a large Coke. The person on the other end read back the order, I confirmed it, and we moved on to the window.
That’s where things got interesting. The cashier told me, “Sorry, our system is down. We can’t take card payments right now. Cash only.”
Cash only? Seriously? I dug through my wallet. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I hadn’t carried cash in ages! I explained my situation to the cashier. She shrugged. “Sorry, nothing I can do.”
I felt defeated. The kids were already drooling at the thought of McNuggets. So, I asked, “Is there an ATM nearby?” She pointed across the street to a gas station.
Okay, Operation McNugget Retrieval was still a go! I pulled out of the line, drove to the gas station, and hit up the ATM. Paid a ridiculous surcharge, but hey, McNuggets were on the line. Got back to McDonald’s, rejoined the end of the drive-thru line (groan!), and waited another 15 minutes.
Finally, we made it back to the window. I paid with cash, grabbed our order, and drove off. Victory!
But wait, there’s more! Got home, opened the bag, and guess what? They forgot the dipping sauces! Seriously?!
So, yeah, that’s my story of trying to get a simple ticket – I mean, meal – at the McDonald’s drive-thru. It involved system failures, cash hunts, and missing dipping sauces. A true odyssey.
Learned my lesson: Always carry cash, and double-check your order before you leave the window. You never know what kind of adventure awaits you at the Golden Arches. Maybe next time I’ll just order through the app. Less drama, hopefully.
