Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out Maywood Park Race Course for a while now. It’s like this old-school harness racing track, and I’ve always been curious about it. I finally decided to go, and let me tell you, it was an experience!
First, I looked up the race schedule online. I wanted to make sure I went on a day with live racing. I found their website and it has all the details in there.
Next, I figured out how to get there. It’s in Maywood. So, I used my phone to find the way and It was a little bit of a drive, but not too bad.
When I arrived, I paid for parking. It wasn’t expensive, just a few bucks. Then I walked to the entrance.
The Atmosphere
- The place is kinda old, giving it that, retro vibe.
- People were really into it, studying the racing forms, and placing bets.
- I even saw some families there, which was cool.
I grabbed a program to see what horses were racing. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing, but I picked a few horses with names I liked and placed a couple of small bets, just for fun.
The races themselves were pretty exciting! Watching those horses fly around the track was something else. The crowd was roaring, especially when it was a close finish.
I didn’t win any money, sadly, but I did get a hot dog and a soda. Standard racetrack fare, you know?
I also walked around a bit, just to take it all in. They had some areas where you could get pretty close to the track, which was neat. It was cool to check that place out.
Overall, it was a fun day trip. It’s definitely not a fancy, modern place, but that’s part of its charm. If you’re looking for something a little different to do, and you don’t mind a bit of old-school atmosphere, you might want to check out Maywood Race Course. Just don’t expect to get rich!
