Yesterday, my buddies and I wanted to play some basketball, but the court at the park was packed. So, we thought, why not try to make our own “horizontal” court in my backyard? It sounded crazy, but we were up for the challenge.

Getting Started
First, we grabbed some chalk from my garage. We needed to mark the lines, of course. Then, we measured out a smaller, kinda squished rectangle in the grass. It wasn’t regulation size, obviously, but we just wanted a space to shoot around.
- Found some old chalk.
- Measured out a rectangle-ish shape.
- It will be a funny basketball court
Drawing the Lines
This was the fun part. We drew a free-throw line (kinda straight), and then a much-smaller “three-point” line. It was more like a one-and-a-half-point line, to be honest. We even tried to draw a little half-circle at the top of the key, but it ended up looking more like a wobbly egg.
Playing the Game
Okay, so playing on a horizontal court is…different. We had to adjust our shots, big time. It’s all about those soft lobs and bank shots. We ended up playing a weird version of H-O-R-S-E, where the shots were more about luck than skill. There was a lot of laughing, tripping, and some very questionable calls.
The Aftermath
By the end, the chalk lines were a mess, the grass was trampled, and we were exhausted. But we had a * get a funny game experience!
