Well, let me tell ya, this Mariners hitting coach, it’s a big deal, ya know? They got this new fella, this Brant Brown, to start the season, but things, they just kept goin’ the same way as before. He stepped in before, back in 2015, I reckon, and stayed till ’18. Now, they’re hopin’ he can work his magic again, make things simple, like he did before.
The big shots, they want things to be easier, not so complicated, ya know? This Martinez fella, players like him. Heard some of ’em, like that JP Crawford and Julio Rodriguez, sayin’ he makes things easy at the plate. Don’t gotta think too much, just swing that bat! That’s what folks like. They say he got a way, this Martinez. He helped some big stars. And now he’s got a lot of say in how they teach hittin’. So, it’s a pretty big deal who’s teachin’ these boys to hit.
These Mariners hitting coaches, they gotta teach these boys how to hit the ball. They gotta show ’em how to stand, how to swing, how to watch the ball. It ain’t as easy as it looks, ya know? They gotta be tough, but they gotta be fair too. They gotta make sure these boys are ready to play. They use these fancy videos now, showin’ the boys how the other team throws. Helps ’em know what’s comin’, I guess. Technology, it’s somethin’ else, ain’t it? Back in my day, we didn’t have none of that.
Now, this new fella, Kevin Seitzer, they say he’s gonna be the hitting coach next year, for 2025. Heard he was with them Braves for a long time, almost ten years, helpin’ them young fellas get good. Heard he helped make some real stars over there. So, maybe he can do the same for our Mariners. Lord knows they need all the help they can get. They gotta hit better if they wanna win, that’s for sure.
These coach fellas, they got a tough job, teachin’ them boys how to hit. Gotta know all the tricks, all the secrets. Gotta know how to make ’em better. This Seitzer, he says the team gonna be more, what’s the word, pushy? Yeah, pushy at the plate. They gonna swing more, I guess. Hope it works. We need some wins, that’s for sure.

Gotta study ’em, see what they like to do.
It’s a lot of work, being a hitting coach. Gotta be up early, stay up late. Gotta watch them boys practice, make sure they’re doin’ it right. Gotta yell at ’em sometimes, make sure they’re listenin’. But gotta be nice too, gotta encourage ’em. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it. They gotta be smart, gotta know the game inside and out. Gotta know how to make these boys the best they can be. It ain’t just about swingin’ the bat, ya know. It’s about knowin’ when to swing, when not to. It’s about bein’ smart, bein’ disciplined.
This whole thing, it is about hitting that little ball. Those coaches for the Mariners, they need to teach them to hit. It is important, this hitting coach. It is not easy to hit that ball. You need to be strong. You need to be quick. Need to see that ball good. And you need to hit it hard. Hit it far. That is how you win. And this hitting, it is hard. You need a good coach. A smart coach. Someone who know how to teach. Someone who know how to win. If you do not hit that ball, you will not win. The other team, they will hit the ball. And they will win.
