Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get out to the Madison Country Club golf course for a while now. I’ve heard good things, seen some pictures online, and finally, I made it happen. Here’s how it went down.

First, I booked a tee time. Called them up a few days beforehand, and snagged a slot for Saturday morning. Pretty straightforward, no issues there. Got myself ready that morning, packed my clubs and I drove over there.
Arriving at the Course
The drive wasn’t too bad, got there, nice place, looked pretty upscale. I parked the car, unloaded my gear, and headed to the pro shop to check in.
Checked in, chatted with the guy at the counter for a bit – super friendly. Then, I headed over to the driving range to warm up
Hitting the Range
- Grabbed a bucket of balls.
- Started with some wedges, just getting a feel for things.
- Then moved on to my irons, working my way up through the bag.
- Finished off with a few drives, trying to loosen up the shoulders.
Playing the first 9
After the range and start playing, the first hole, a par 4, wasn’t too bad. Bogeyed it, but hey, it’s the first hole.
The next few holes were a mix of pars and bogeys. Nothing spectacular, but I was enjoying myself. The course was in great shape, the greens were fast.

I finished the front nine, and thought, that I am getting hungry.
Lunch Break
I went into the clubhouse and grabbed a burger and a drink at the snack bar. Took a little break, relaxed for a bit, and then headed back out for the back nine.
Playing the back 9
The back nine, I started to really feel the heat.
I started to make a few more mistakes, a couple of double bogeys crept in. Ugh.
I pulled it together for the last few holes, though. Finished strong with a couple of pars.

After the Round
After I finished, I putted around on the practice green for a little while, then headed back to the pro shop to turn in my cart. I chatted with the staff again, then packed up my clubs and hit the road.
Overall, a solid day. The Madison Country Club course was definitely a good challenge. I’d go back again, for sure. Maybe next time I’ll break 90!
