How I Started The Lovely Runner Finale Debate
Okay so this whole thing kicked off when my Twitter timeline blew up with angry fans ranting about the Lovely Runner finale. I’d just finished episode 16 myself and had THOUGHTS. Grabbed my laptop around midnight and started typing furious notes. The ending felt like chugging spoiled milk – sweet at first but left a nasty aftertaste.
First I listed all the problems chewing at my brain:

Dug up the finale script leaks to check what got cut – turns out the cop character was originally supposed to shoot the villain mid-air which explains the weird CG helicopter crash. Also found pre-release interviews where the writer kept changing his story about the ending.
Posted everything with HUGE SPOILER warnings in all caps. Biggest arguments that blew up:
- Stans insisting the magic necklace was perfectly explained (it wasn’t)
- Older fans wanting tragic ending vs teens demanding sunshine
- That one guy who kept typing essays about “director’s artistic vision”
My DMs became a warzone. Got called “brainless hater” seven times before breakfast. Then some accounts started posting screenshots of my deleted tweets from 2022 where I’d praised the actors. Total chaos.
How This Trainwreck Ended
After three days of non-stop keyboard fighting, the actor who played the villain liked my main critique post. Pandemonium! His stans immediately switched sides in the debate. The writer’s assistant then slid into my DMs hinting at studio interference – said the original script had two alternate endings filmed (sad + happy) but executives forced that Frankenstein compromise.
Honestly I’m exhausted. Gained 2K followers but lost feeling in my thumbs from typing. Learned two things:
