Okay, so I’ve been on this Snapchat streak thing for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started this streak with my buddy, Jake, back in, I think it was 2015? Yeah, right around when Snapchat first introduced the feature. We were both pretty active on the app, sending snaps back and forth almost every day.
At first, it was just for fun, you know? We didn’t really think much about it. But then, after a few weeks, we noticed this little fire emoji next to each other’s names and a number. That’s when we realized, “Hey, we’re on a streak!”
From that point on, it became a bit of a mission. We were like, “Let’s see how long we can keep this going!” We’d send snaps every single day, even if it was just a picture of our feet or a blank screen with the word “streak” on it. We were committed, man!
There were definitely some close calls. I remember one time I was camping in the middle of nowhere with zero service. I was freaking out, thinking the streak was doomed. But luckily, I managed to hike up a hill and get just enough signal to send a quick snap before midnight. Crisis averted!
Another time, Jake’s phone broke, and he had to get a new one. We were both sweating bullets, hoping the streak would transfer over. Thankfully, it did. We were so relieved, it was like winning the lottery or something.
We kept this up for years. Years! We watched that number climb higher and higher. We even made a pact that if we ever hit 1000 days, we’d celebrate somehow. And you know what? We did it. We actually hit 1000 days! It was insane. We were both like, “No way, we actually did it!”
We celebrated by, well, sending each other a bunch of snaps, obviously. What else would we do? We also bragged about it to all our friends, who were probably pretty annoyed by that point, haha.
But we didn’t stop there. We kept going. We were in it for the long haul. We even started looking up the longest Snapchat streaks online, just to see how we stacked up. We saw some people with streaks in the 3000s, and we were like, “Whoa, that’s insane! Maybe we can get there someday.”
As of now, our streak is sitting at over 3500 days. Yeah, you heard that right. Over 3500 days of sending snaps back and forth. It’s pretty ridiculous when you think about it. We’ve been doing this for almost ten years! I saw news said Katie and Erin have 3543 days, maybe we’re close to them, haha.
I don’t know how much longer we’ll keep it going, but it’s definitely been a fun, albeit slightly pointless, journey. It’s kind of like a little inside joke between us at this point. A testament to our persistence, or maybe our stubbornness, haha.
