LOL Swarm Controller Support: How to Easily Control the Swarm in League of Legends?

Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little gaming experiments. So, the other day I was messing around with League of Legends’ new mode, Swarm, and I thought, “This thing could totally work with a controller, right?” I’m a huge fan of kicking back with a controller in hand, and Swarm just seemed like it would vibe well with that setup.

First off, getting started was a bit of a pain. I dug out my old Xbox controller – yeah, the one that’s seen better days – and hooked it up to my PC. Good thing I had a wireless receiver lying around somewhere; found a cheap one online a while back for like five bucks. With the controller connected, I was ready to jump into the game.

Now, Swarm isn’t your typical League match. It’s got this whole new setup where you move with WASD, which, let me tell you, feels weird at first if you’re used to clicking around. But, I figured, why not map these to my controller? After some tinkering around with some settings, I managed to get the movement down on the left stick. It felt pretty natural after a bit.

Switching between auto and manual aim was another hurdle. In Swarm, you toggle this with the C key, so I just bound that to one of the shoulder buttons. It wasn’t perfect, but it did the job. Then there’s the whole deal with champion abilities. Each champ has their own unique skills on E and R, and these get better as you level up. I slapped those onto the face buttons, and man, pulling off combos felt so satisfying.

Here’s how I set things up:

  • Movement: Left stick, just like walking around with WASD.
  • Aim Toggle: One of the shoulder buttons because it felt right there.
  • Abilities: Face buttons, so I could easily smash them when things got crazy.

Playing through the rounds, I had to survive waves of enemies until the big boss showed up. Using the controller added a whole new layer of fun to it. It’s definitely doable, and in some ways, it felt even better than the usual mouse and keyboard setup. I mean, who wouldn’t want to lean back and chill while taking down a massive boss with a controller?

In the end, it wasn’t just about making Swarm playable with a controller; it was about making it fun my way. And you know what? It totally worked. So, for anyone out there who’s like me and loves their controller, give it a shot. It might just change how you see this game mode.

Alright, that’s it for this little experiment. Catch you guys in the next one. Keep gaming and stay awesome!
