Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with some NBA data, specifically looking at Victor Wembanyama’s blocks. I’m a huge Spurs fan, and this guy is just a monster on defense, so I figured, why not dive into the numbers?
First, I needed to find the data. I started by doing a simple search online,but after a lot of searching I decided to do the next step.
So, I went to work using my hands.
- I opened the webpage.
- I navigated to the “blocks” section. It was pretty easy to find since it’s a major stat.
- Then, I started scrolling through the game logs. Man, there were a lot of games! It took a while to get through the whole season.
- For each game, I looked at the number of blocks Wembanyama had and jotted it down in my notebook. I just made a simple list: date of the game, opponent, and the number of blocks.
- I made little tally marks – one for each block. It felt kind of old-school, but it was satisfying.
After I had gone through all the games,I added up the tally marks for each one to get the total blocks per game. Finally, I counted the numbers and added the total for all games. Wow I get the total!
It was awesome seeing the numbers laid out like that. It’s one thing to watch him play, and another to see the actual stats, game by game. This little project definitely made me appreciate his defensive skills even more.
